http://www.enquirer.com/editions/200...dicted_in.html Pair indicted in death of 3-year-old -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Woman, boyfriend face prison By Janice Morse The Cincinnati Enquirer HAMILTON — A 27-year-old Woodlawn man won't face a possible death sentence, but could get life in prison if convicted of killing a 3-year-old Middletown girl. But the charge against the girl's mother has been increased. Centers Miles Kevin Charles Miles appeared Wednesday in Butler County Common Pleas Court on charges of murder and child-endangering; his girlfriend, Tiana Centers, 20, faces a charge of permitting child abuse. The charges, in an indictment issued Tuesday, stem from the New Year's Day death of Ms. Centers' daughter, Courtney. She died of internal bleeding after Mr. Miles punched her while her mother went to a convenience store, authorities said. snip...........in ROC Family members who attended Wednesday's court appearance declined to comment, but have previously said they were troubled to learn that Ms. Centers is pregnant with her third child. Her surviving child, Emily, 18 months, has been placed with a great-grandmother. |

Story last updated at 2:51 p.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2002 Grandmother charged after authorities find 2-year-old wrapped in garbage bags ALLIANCE, Neb. (AP) -- A 49-year-old woman has been charged in the beating death of her 2-year-old granddaughter after the toddler's body was found wrapped inside plastic garbage bags, secured with duct tape and a shoe lace. Authorities found Annette Hirsch's body Saturday. snip...in ROC...go to the URL above for the entire article. Instead of reporting the death, Michelle Hirsch said she panicked and placed the child in the plastic bags so the smell of decomposition would not ''stink up'' the house, court records indicated. Another relative called police Saturday afternoon. An autopsy showed the toddler died of blows to the head late Friday or early Saturday, I wonder if you'll catch on eventually? Notice I've not made a practice of posting the particulars of parents brutality to their children, while you have made a practice of posting constantly about foster parent's thuggery. The point is, all kinds of caregivers do harm to children in their care, and it's a minority that do so. Ignoring this point and focusing on only one without mentioning the other seems a bit one sided, now doesn't it, Fig? Have you ever seen me defend a foster parent or not bio parent who did harm to a child...once, anywhere in any ng? Yet I've seen you again and again defend those that have confessed right here in the ngs, and defend bio parents that have brutalized their children from media reports. Are you Rootbound? Do you need Repotting? Kane |

There's a lovely pic of her too, off to the right, all decked out in her perky best in prison garb. Looks like the girl next door, or possibly like a relative of The Plant. Kane |

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE Thursday, February 10, 2000 "GRANDMOTHER ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH MURDER OF HER GRANDSON" LOS ANGELES -On Wednesday, February 9, 2000, Chi Chi Locci, age 43, was arrested and booked for the murder of her grandson, 3-year-old Jordan Diggins. The case was initially reported to the Los Angeles Police Department on Monday, February 7, 2000, when paramedics responded to Locci's residence at 7148 Coldwater Canyon, Apartment 309, in North Hollywood. The victim was pronounced dead by paramedics who observed trauma to the victim's body and notified the police. Detectives from Juvenile Division's, Abused Child Unit, conducted an investigation that resulted in the arrest of Locci. The autopsy by the L.A. County Coroner revealed the child died from blunt force trauma. Locci was booked at the 77th Street Jail and remains in custody in lieu of $1 million bail. The case will be presented to the District Attorney for filing of murder and felony child abuse charges. Hi, Kane! As is common across the nation, LAPD has a special detail of detectives who investigate child abuse and neglect. Fortunately, in this case, the horrible abuse of this child was treated as a crime and the perp arrested. Increasingly, this is the response to child abuse and neglect. As it should be. Child abuse is not an illness. Child abuse is not a social problem. Child abuse is a crime. In this case, it was treated as such. Thanks for posting the information, Kane. |

While it is a little dated (a year and a half ago), the story points out that police were called by relatives and, it appears the grandmother was arrested and charged. An appropriate response. Child abuse is not an illness. It is a crime. In this case, it was treated as a crime. I wonder if you'll catch on eventually? Notice I've not made a practice of posting the particulars of parents brutality to their children, while you have made a practice of posting constantly about foster parent's thuggery. Well, in the selection that you did post, it seems the cases were investigated and disposed of properly. Do you agree? |

Christine Wilhelm could face 40 years in prison on both counts when she is sentenced August 27. Hi, Kane! This case of fatal child abuse was investigated in April, 2002. While the incident happened more than a year ago, it does represent a horrific case of abuse. Thankfully, the perp was prosecuted and found guilty. It appears that, again, police were the investigative agency. She goes to prison for 40 years. Child abuse is not an illness. It is a crime. snip in ROC...................
