Louisville Lawmaker Wants CPS Changes
Louisville Lawmaker Wants CPS Changes
POSTED: 11:44 pm EST December 18, 2007 UPDATED: 8:09 am EST December 19, 2007 http://www.wlky.com/news/14886429/detail.html LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A state lawmaker from Louisville is proposing changes to the state's Child Protective Services System. Rep. Darryl Owens said he and his colleagues have heard complaints from parents about children being improperly removed from their homes. A state commission recently concluded parents weren't getting a fair shake in the courts when it came to fighting for their kids. Owens said he wants to level the playing field by requiring attorneys to represent the parent and the child at termination hearings. He also wants training for lawyers and judges in family court cases and more pay for publicly appointed attorneys working the cases. sponsor "There are some instances in which the removal does not appear to be warranted and the fact they go in court and there's nobody there to advocate on behalf of the child or parent works to their detriment," said Owens. Owens pre-filed the bill in Frankfort for discussion in January. CURRENTLY CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES VIOLATES MORE CIVIL RIGHTS ON A DAILY BASIS THEN ALL OTHER AGENCIES COMBINED INCLUDING THE NATIONAL SECURITY AGENCY/CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY WIRETAPPING PROGRAMS.... CPS Does not protect children... It is sickening how many children are subject to abuse, neglect and even killed at the hands of Child Protective Services. every parent should read this .pdf from connecticut dcf watch... http://www.connecticutdcfwatch.com/8x11.pdf http://www.connecticutdcfwatch.com Number of Cases per 100,000 children in the US These numbers come from The National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect in Washington. (NCCAN) Recent numbers have increased significantly for CPS *Perpetrators of Maltreatment* Physical Abuse CPS 160, Parents 59 Sexual Abuse CPS 112, Parents 13 Neglect CPS 410, Parents 241 Medical Neglect CPS 14 Parents 12 Fatalities CPS 6.4, Parents 1.5 Imagine that, 6.4 children die at the hands of the very agencies that are supposed to protect them and only 1.5 at the hands of parents per 100,000 children. CPS perpetrates more abuse, neglect, and sexual abuse and kills more children then parents in the United States. If the citizens of this country hold CPS to the same standards that they hold parents too. No judge should ever put another child in the hands of ANY government agency because CPS nationwide is guilty of more harm and death than any human being combined. CPS nationwide is guilty of more human rights violations and deaths of children then the homes from which they were removed. When are the judges going to wake up and see that they are sending children to their death and a life of abuse when children are removed from safe homes based on the mere opinion of a bunch of social workers. CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES, HAPPILY DESTROYING THOUSANDS OF INNOCENT FAMILIES YEARLY NATIONWIDE AND COMING TO YOU'RE HOME SOON... BE SURE TO FIND OUT WHERE YOUR CANDIDATES STANDS ON THE ISSUE OF REFORMING OR ABOLISHING CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES ("MAKE YOUR CANDIDATES TAKE A STAND ON THIS ISSUE.") THEN REMEMBER TO VOTE ACCORDINGLY IF THEY ARE "FAMILY UNFRIENDLY" IN THE NEXT ELECTION... |

Or the other process? *Do you think that people who can afford an attorney should be GIVEN a public defender?* This article, so far as I saw, does not mention the financial status of the parents. If an accused has an income of, let's say $100,000 per year, do you think your taxes should go to paying for their public defender? Right to an attorney should have been guaranteed from the start! Now if we can just make that a "vigorous" representation instead of going through the motions and doing the "stipulation scam" crud 10 minutes before the ""hearing"". |

I do not date short, fat, ugly old men. You're safe piggy. 5' 10" isn't SHORT kiddo and I have lost weight and still am and from YOU I will always be safe. I would only date human females, NOT BEASTS even when I was single. If it were up to me YOUR photo would be used as the male contraceptive. They'd hang it above the bed and NO man could ever get it up so it would be 100% effective at birth control. |

I just cannot believe that he's talking **** to me about this. Ken, it's people like you that make it oh so easy for others to refuse to take responsibility for themselves. Don't muddy the waters on this issue with your personal attacks. If that's all you can contribute then keep it to yourself. I do not believe that every person accused of child abuse, neglect, or a crime should have free legal representation handed to them at the cost of the tax payers when they have resources to secure legal counsel themselves. Guilty, innocent, doesn't matter, PEOPLE, PAY YOUR OWN DAMN WAY IN THE WORLD, TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN KIDS, AND THEN MAYBE SOME DAY WE CAN DO AWAY WITH JAILS AND ORPHANAGES AND CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES AND EVEN CRAZY ASSED TRIAL CONSULTANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And that's my two cents for the holidays...merry christmas eve. |
