short naps
OK, not exactly a breastfeeding question, but my 3 month old DD is
nursed on demand, we cosleep, etc. This child will not nap for more than 35 minutes. Sometimes a bit longer in the snugli if we are out for a walk. This applies under all circumstances (snugli, sling, laying with her, putting her down, etc.) Truly, she usually wakes up within 2 minutes of putting her down. This would be fine if she were my one and only, but I have a 3 year old that requires some amount of supervision. Any thoughts? thanks, Karen |

Any thoughts? thanks, Karen Its been a while, since I've read it, but Elizabeth Pantley's "No Cry Sleep Solution" makes some good comments on the 20 minute sleep cycle that lots of babies have (and also adults but we tend to put ourselves back to sleep . I seem to remember microwakes??? or something like that. I noticed with #2 (and wish I knew more with #1) that he would stir either 20 or 40 minutes (roughly) into a daytime nap and would wake up fully *unless* I went in and patted / cuddled etc back to sleep .... and he would seem to go into a deeper sleep for a longer period. I also remember that with #1, I used to wait too long to put her down after she'd fallen asleep. At any rate, there might some answers in NCSS. Amanda |

Two of my kids sprouted teeth at around 4 months, one it bothered and the other it didn't. The one it bothered just so happened to be the terrible napper, but she outgrew that and started getting regular just after those first few teeth popped through. Is the room dark enough where baby is napping? |
