Default Alright, what's going on??

Where on earth is everyone? It's been a little dead around here for a
while...

So, might be a silly question, but do any of you do any type of
scrapbooking? I've actually just given it a shot, and I think I like it
I went around and picked up a bunch of scrapbooking supplies - hit a few
stores and raided the clearance bins I went home and tried it out. My
first attempt - probably about a year ago - was a total failure. It was
horrible, I was left with pictures all cut up and papers all crumpled, with
glue and stickers all over the world.
Found a few people who had some advice to offer, and I think I might be on
my way.

So far, I've decided I'm going to do a scrapbook for each of the kids, one
for Norm, one for me and a family one. Rather than sit down and work on
just one, I've been doing page by page, mixing it up. I've done a complete
page for Bran, 2 complete pages for Amie, 3 complete pages for Norm, half a
page for me. Talk about time flying when you get into it!

I found that with Bran and Amie, theirs were easy to lay out and have the
pages turn out real nice. I am really impressed With Norm's, though, I
find it's harder. The pictures are older, some not in such great shape and
kinda hard to manage. It's kind of like that with my pictures as well.

So, anyways... Where's everyone at?

I haven't scrapbooked at all. That started to become popular long after
I became a mother. I have cross stitched baby name, birthdate, weight
and height with a saying for each of them.

I've been busy getting use to being a working mom, settling out Lisa's
medical issues (constant throat infections), and fixing all the stuff
around here that needs fixing - the range broke, leak under the sink in
the kitchen, painting, etc... to get ready for wedding company in a few
months. Aside from that, and the usual lawns, car, gardening, and
shopping, I haven't been doing much of anything.

Really.

I have no energy.

Geez, I'm freekin' old.

'K

Hi! it's me

I had a go at the scrapping that you apply to furniture,
you know bought a tatty old cupboard, washed, sanded,
and gave it an undercoat, then pasted scraps onto it.

I got the idea from a book that used copies of stuff
from 1800's, but it included photocopiable piccies too.
then the idea was to mix a solution together, something
like egg white, linseed(can't be sure), but when it dried
it crinkled, then you had to paint that over with
dark coffee so it looked old (phew!) - after that, if you
hadn't dumped it as a failure, you could varnish it.
I got as far as the sticking the pictures on.

I'd love to be able to paint a mural on my walls, or
do a ceiling like that one in the Vatican - just as a
conversation piece, in the afternoon, over a piece of
sponge cake and cup of tea.

School hols are fast approaching and I'm wondering how
to stop the kids fighting already. The weather is
glorious, and I have an urge to finish the bathroom
and rebuild the door frame in the kitchen, we're going
to need a cat flap soon, (my goodness-they eat a hell
of a lot for such small animals - and poo?- I've bought
the kitty litter in bulk), they've lacerated my lace
curtains to shreds, they run up, sink their claws in,
then gravity does the rest) They hang out on top of the
hamsters cage, flirting with it. The fluffy one has an
extra special talent, if I throw a squeeky mouse into
those hard to reach places behind the heavy furniture,
hey presto! dusted!

I'm waiting for a piano to arrive, £20, does it work?
"well, you can't have a cat without a piano, and cats
can't play anyhow - so why not" To be honest I'd like
the children to learn to play a musical instrument,
its something I'd liked to have done, then maybe they
could the dog to sing?

the other news is that I've started a diet, I needed to.
which reminds me, when I was pregnant I used to get
terrible heartburn, someone advised me to drink soya
milk instead of full fat, it took a couple of days to get
used to the flavor, but it worked.

bye for now

Hope you're feeling a bit better.

Hey Sunshine ! Not really better in the knees, thanks for askin' I just
couldn't let them stop me from the cooking for the wedding, they had
set up injections once the freekin insurance co was oh so nice to grant
me the treatment yes sarcasm Then the area flooded really badly
around here and they called off the first injections which would have
been yesterday, sooooo I am hobbling around yelling out in pain til'
the knees crack and release so I can straighten them then laughing
hysterically, because it is officially official now , temporary
insanity has entered my life . My oldest has been here since the 16th,
the youngest is a raging prego hormone with nasty morning sickness,
Mari has been crazy since the day she hooked up with this deal this is
why it works ;-), and my grandaughters new nickname is Whinenona
waaaaaaaaaaa!

On the rough days, remember we've been through far worse and things
always seem to get better.

This is a rule of life indeed smile I have embraced the rule.

On the good days, hide. No sense ruining them with other people's
nonsense. :-)

ROFLMAO I have a shirt that reads "I am having a good day so dont mess
it up!"

So cooking done, for 150 ! baked ziti, bbq chix, sausage peppers and
onions, cold cut and cheese platter, tossed salad, mac n tuna salad,
potato salad, cole slaw , what'd I forget?

((( Bev ))) Sorry to hear.

How was the wedding? I can't believe it came and went without my
remembering. alzheimer's.... that's what it is. Either that or HUTA
disease. (beforeya ask.. .head up the ass disease)

The wedding was wonderful! Mother nature granted us a day of sunshine
and no humidity. I suffer from HUTA disease, I believe it may be quite
common........

My oldest has been here since the 16th,
the youngest is a raging prego hormone with nasty morning sickness,
Mari has been crazy since the day she hooked up with this deal this is

So things are pretty normal? :-)

Oh yes as normal as ever !

We have a winner! Love the Whinenona (brain catching up... must get
coffee).

LOL! Yes Whineona for the whiners....Klingons for those that have to be
held 24/7 ! We are actually in both stages of this and it is quite
annoying at times. She whines everything, I mean everything and the
little rocket scientist knows what she is doing because I started to
whine back at her and you should see the little evil grin I am getting.

So cooking done, for 150 ! baked ziti, bbq chix, sausage peppers and

Beer?

best mans job

The cake?

delivered on time!

Someone to clean up and do dishes?

fancy paper plates for the fancy buffet picnic! Only dishes are the
chafing dishes, utensils and platters I used so not too bad. The
wedding party basically helped w/ clean up as well.

Man, that sounds good.
Kris is doing Italian... probably lasagna, chicken w/alfredo (almost
Italian), salad, garlic bread. Did you get bread?

Yummy ! Kris has a nice choice of foods, I love both, what a hard
decision ...... :-)
I am told everything was delicious, my stepdaughter and her new hubby
hugged me and told me how much they love me and that I did so much and
how they appreciate what I did for them. I told them it was my gift
from my heart and how much I enjoyed doing it for them. I have not
cooked like this in two years, since I have been out of work, what a
reminder of how much I truly love to do this. I can't wait to get well
and get back at it !Yeah we had assorted italian rolls, and I forgot to
mention the watermelon fruit baskets I made.

Wedding is at 2 this afternoon praying weather is good to them
I gotta run sooooo much to do yet! Take care , be good , and "have a
nice day !" :-)

Whoo hoo. At least you're not in that flood area up there.

We have had both ends of our road closed for high waters but no we have
not been directly affected.....unless we need to go into Easton where
all our docs visits are. The visits were cancelled and rescheduled. The
WIC office mailed out vouchers which was good. It is so heartbreaking
to see the flood damages out there so soon again after the last
flooding, some businesses had just rebuilt and reopened. My mom said
they saw the story on the news out there in Texas, I was surprised !

Congrats to
the groom, best wishes to the bride, and well done mom! Try to enjoy the
day... sit and hold court. You sure deserve it.

'Kate

Thanks
The bride was absolutely beautiful , I think the groom had a few too
many before the ceremony but he behaved himself. My older grandson (14)
and grandaughter (11) were also in the wedding party.
LOL! sit and hold court ya think !?!?!?!?! I sat alright, in between
making sure the pans that were emptied were refilled. I absolutely
loved my chosen role , I felt like the mother hen taking care of the
chicks all day. My grandson (3) looked so adorable in his white tux, he
was a little strange though never spoke a word to me all day just
smiled, he came up to me several times to steal olives off my plate
though.Jaime swam all day, she loves the water, Kristopher tried
several times before they were done with pics to jump into the pool in
his tux LOL!

Gayles sister approached me and we hugged she asked how I was doing I
said I'm doing o.k. she said good and asked if she could help me with
anything so I accepted her help , it was nice.

Gayles very suportive brother also greeted me with a smile and hug ,
some of Gayles family had the nerve to not come to the wedding, I feel
bad for her daughter that they did this to her. Sometimes family can be
worse than complete strangers ya know?

I am Exhausted today, Mari and I will be driving the bride and and
groom to Newark airport at 2 a.m. Monday morning for their honeymoon
flight to Mexico!

I will be going to bed shortly for a nap before the 1 1/2 - 2 hour
drive to Newark.
Right after a sausage pepper and onion sub grin

over and out for now, keep in touch !

You too! The wedding sounds like it was great. Congrats on pulling it
off. You've earned some time off for good behavior.

Yeppers I surely will ! The wedding was great and very much a success.
I didn't realise my behavior could be bad grin yea right , uh huh,
I've always been a good bad girl !

So how are the kiddies and have you managed to find the "workin' mom
groove" to settle into comfortably yet ? Are you doing anything for the
fourth? How are the wedding plans going? I was wondering.........about
the grooms last name, I kinda giggled a little when I imagined the
announcement " And now ladies and gentlemen introducing for the first
time Mr. and Mrs. Dicks" Then I kinda giggled when I learned my step
daughters hubbys real name is Mort Mortensen. and then I have a friend
who's Aunts name is Uletta Pile.
Don't ask I must still be tired ............................

Would you believe I have three weeks off because of the school schedule?
I'm not even at the site at which I'll be working for the remainder of
internship.

Well aint that nice ! No work/no school ? Like a three week vacation at
home kinda thing ? If so, I bet you are enjoying the free time.

Are you doing anything for the fourth?

We usually drive around looking for a good area to watch fireworks. It's
mosquito season and they're swarming worse than any year I can remember
so I don't want to go to an organized event and have to stake an area,
sit for hours, and become a mosquito buffet.

My girls are going to their dads place over night to go to the firemans
carnival and watch fireworks , happens this way every year since Gayle
died. We use to do the carnival/fireworks together. Then next weekend
would have been the Heritage day festivities in Easton.......but I
think I read that this was cancelled this year due to the flooding.
Mari is working , so i'll be entertaining myself at home. Maybe I'll
buy myself a sparkler.

How are the wedding plans going?

Beats me. She sent the invitations. She's waiting on her dress. The
bridesmaids ordered their dresses. The tuxs are ordered and rented. She
chose the caterer, cake, DJ, and the reception/wedding area is paid. She
has yet to talk to the officiant. I think she's pretty set.

Sounds like she is . Did you get your dress etc.?
Is L excited I assume she is a bridesmaid ?

I was wondering.........about
the grooms last name, I kinda giggled a little when I imagined the
announcement " And now ladies and gentlemen introducing for the first

They're changing their last name so I'm not sure how the announcement is
going to go. Jay's tired of the laughs and I can't blame him. They chose
my maiden name.

Yea I bet he is tired of it. Very sweet that they chose your maiden
name!

Then I kinda giggled when I learned my step
daughters hubbys real name is Mort Mortensen. and then I have a friend
who's Aunts name is Uletta Pile.

We were trying to name their kids. Steele if it's a boy, Ivanna if it's
a girl.

grin now now gramma Kate you behave! LOL!

Don't ask I must still be tired ............................

I laughed when I heard his last name the first time and then I felt bad
for laughing.

I was a little hesitant at first to share my thoughts and then I
remembered ..................
I do -know- you well enough to know you laughed too smile "it is what
it is".

I thought I felt sorry but then I realized you'd have time alone.

Oh hell no. It's a dress. Me. In a dress. I'm going to avoid it until I
can't anymore.

I understand exactly how you feel, last time I wore a dress was for my
brothers wedding back in the early 90's. I was never a dress wearer. I
will avoid it at all costs, have bought many a nice slacks suit though
smile I am sure you will be the most beautiful mother of the bride
Ms. Kate !

She is.. and she has so much going on that she hasn't had time to be
excited about it.

They wanted to keep a family name and the other names are ethnic.

very good , then you have made excellent progress, being ashamed is not
allowed. Human nature includes the sense of humor, some people have a
rather sick sense of humor, laughing at ourselves is healthy, to laugh
is healthy and smiling is free .

Hope yer havin a nice day !

f'ing trojan infiltrated my system and it took the better part of the
day to run scans and get rid of it.

I hope it's gone.

About a month ago my system picked up on a trojan and it was an
information collector, other than the AOL security system saying they
booted it, I wouldn't have a clue about what you had to do. Sounds like
it was F'ing annoying, I hope both yours and mine is gone !

Since we are talking puters.....you should hear all the sarcastic
comments I have had to absorb by my daughter and her b/f because I
still have dial up ! They are not gonna visit anymore unless I get some
DSL or cable stuff , what the heck do I know ? sheesh !

My married name is Italian. Down here, people don't know the difference
between Italian and Hispanic. The Hispanic translation of our last name
is almost as laughable as Dicks.

My children were blonde/blue eyed babies. Call out our last name in a
waiting room and they're not looking for white people to reply. They
give us such a look... funny at first. Tiring after awhile. My son's
High school "ethnicity" box was filled in by the school as "Hispanic". I
don't answer ethnicity questions on principle. Governmental or
institutional tracking of race/ethnicity smacks of Hitler era Germany.
First they identify, then they divide.

Our alternatives are Hroch (pronounced "rock"... I guess they could be
the Hroch-Dicks), Pzyneski, Mazur. They're spellers nighmares. My oldest
is dyslexic. They chose the Americanized/shortened Pzyneski that my Dad
used.

I see your point now......it is a shame it is the way it is.My moms
Irish my dad italian we were all light hair ,eyes and skin when we were
younger, not a one of us looked very italian either. I suppose if I
were a guy I rather use Hroch-Dicks than say Limp-Dicks though....o.k.
that is enough of that now! Time to behave.
