Pediatrician Warns Parents About Cicadas
P. Tierney wrote in message . ..
I carried my daughter down the steps into our smallish backyard because she wanted to see what the many hundred cicadas (and we aren't even near peak yet!) on our plants and grass looked like. A few landed on me and, wimp that I am, I freaked out, ran up the stairs, slipped and fell, nearly hurting myself and her. Congratulations, you've just taught your daughter to freak out over bugs. Your penance is to sit on the porch with her and let them land on you WITHOUT freaking out*, and show her what neat creatures they are. If you absolutely cannot do this, have a neighbor or friend (or her mom do it. It's a crying shame when parents teach their kids to be afraid when there's no reason for it. Jeannie *you can do it--think of it as immersion therapy! |
