Child Suport Lawsuit in Alabama
The former Director of the Virginia Division of Child Support Enforcement
went to PSI, IMMEDIATELY AFTER LEAVING DCSE. "Kenneth S." wrote in message ... Some years back, when you went to the Policy Studies, Inc., web site, you would see information about the backgrounds of all senior executives of the company. To a quite remarkable extent, these people were former state government officials who had administered welfare and "child support" programs (and doubtless had dispensed contracts to PSI). On top of that, the relationship between these PSI executives and state governments had been maintained, as indicated by the information about where PSI currently had contracts, also shown at that time on the web site. All that sort of information disappeared from the PSI web site (http://www.policy-studies.com/) years ago. No doubt it was considered unwise to make it too easy for fathers like me to inspect it. However, PSI and its president Robert Williams are still up to their old tricks. They have a press release on the PSI web site at the moment about the appointment of one Doug Howard as a vice president. Howard is described as having held held "top positions for human services agencies in Iowa and Michigan." A quick Internet search indicates that what is euphemistically described as "human services" is in fact CS enforcement -- at least in Michigan, where Howard was director of the "Family Independence Agency." (Soon I'm going to establish myself a consultant on obscure and euphemistic vocabulary to the child support industry. It's a booming business, evidently, and it doesn't end with calling fathers "noncustodial parents.") One former head of the Virginia DSCE went to work for PSI a few years back. HIS predecessor went to work for Lockheed Martin, which at the time was trying to diversify into the CS enforcement business. (Surprising line of business for Lockheed Martin, huh? But, as some fathers noted at the time, precision bombing was about the only CS enforcement technique that hadn't been used on them.) This whole so-called "child support" business is just riddled with corruption. To me, the surprising thing is that no reporter ever thinks of doing an investigatory story on the situation. I suppose the reason for the absence of press interest is that the victims of this corruption, heterosexual men, are one of the few remaining official scapegoat groups in the U.S. No Pulitzer prizes for showing how the system is rigged against THEM! A FOIA request to Virginia about where all previous heads of DCSE went after they left the agency would, by itself, tell an interesting story. "Editor - Child Support News" wrote in message ... Here in Virginia, they helped established the Guideline amounts, then Virginia gave them contracts to operate FOUR DCSE offices in the state. Virginia has yet to comply with my FOIA request for the contracts, but I believe they may have been paid based on a percentage of what they collect. Dads need to file FOIA requests for Policy Studies contracts with all state DCSE offices. You get them, in electronic form, and I'll post them. "Mel Gamble" wrote in message ... This same bunch of whores - Policy Studies - increased oregun's guieline amounts by something close to 50% for low-income payors last year. When state's are having such a hard time balancing their budgets with state taxes on citizenry suffering from no or reduced earnings, it's easy to get the legislators to pass on higher support guidelines so they can get more of the federal pie in incentive payments for establishing paternities, forcing fathers to pay for health insurance policies and forcibly taking ever-increasing percentages of their wages, all of which bring more of those federal dollars into the state. When are they going to wake up and realize/admit the affect of the measures that GET those federal dollars and where the damn federal dollars came from in the first place? Balancing their budgets on the backs of children and their fathers is EVIL and every legislator that votes in support of these increases should be sitting in prison like any other admitted child abuser.... Mel Gamble Editor - Child Support News wrote: Child Support Suit Associated Press Two members of the state's child support advisory committee have filed a lawsuit against acting Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Gorman Houston and other members of the committee, claiming they are operating in a secret and unconstitutional manner. Committee members James Blackston and Brad Barber filed suit last week against Houston, Lewis Gosa, chairman of the Advisory Committee on Alabama Child Support Guidelines and Enforcement, and other officials with the state child support system. Both men reside in Jefferson County and are non-custodial parents. In March, the committee received a recommendation to raise the child support guidelines by an average of 32-percent, meaning many non-custodial parents could pay almost a third more in child support than they do now. Barber and Blackston allege that Houston and two others met secretly on January eighth to issue a contract to Policy Studies Incorporated to review the state's child support schedule. The agency recommended the 32-percent increase. Blackston and Barber contend the contract should have been approved by the entire committee. Houston said Tuesday he wouldn't comment on the lawsuit until he reviews it with the attorney general's office. |

It's how bureaucracy works; government officials work with specific private
sector entities who are rewarded after they leave government employment by being placed in a position of power dealing with the assistant they left behind filling their position who are hoping to eventually repeat the process. This is why the government pays $654 for hammers, $360 for toilet seats and how C$ is so totally screwed up in every area. Phil #3 "Kenneth S." wrote in message ... You're talking about Mike Henry, right? And HIS predecessor went
straight to Lockheed Martin after leaving DCSE. There must be some reason PSI gets all these CS contracts. CSI President Robert Williams, although evidently very good at drumming up business for himself, is a most unimpressive witness on the subject on which he is supposed to be so knowledgeable. He testified to a Virginia CS advisory committee several years ago (and, I was told at the time, received $10,000 plus travel costs for doing so). One of the fathers who also testified was an economic consultant, and he made mincemeat of Williams, and all his supposed "expertise." This is a racket, pure and simple. It can continue only because the fathers who have to pay the money are so powerless politically. No one has any reason to care that the system is so grossly unfair to fathers, and in the process so destructive to children and to long-term social stability, by creating incentives for fatherless families. Currently, a former Defense Department official is facing the likelihood of a prison sentence because she left DOD, immediately went to work for Boeing in a highly paid capacity, and was responsible for all kinds of valuable government business going to Boeing. I can't wait for this to happen in the "child support" industry, but I won't be holding my breath. "Editor - Child Support News" wrote in message ... A quick Internet search indicates that what is euphemistically described as "human services" is in fact CS enforcement -- at least in Michigan, where Howard was director of the "Family Independence Agency." (Soon I'm going to establish myself a consultant on obscure and euphemistic vocabulary to the child support industry. |
