Default Trout Fishing in America CTTS 2.5yo


Someone here recommended the Trout Fishing in America CD "Mine" a
while back, and we have indeed enjoyed it. Those who know the
"Big Rig" song may appreciate my 2.5yo's rendition:

"Oh, dere's onetwothreefourfive six... seven... eight... nine... Million!
mumble mumble BIG RIG!"

LOL....I don't remember if I was the one who recommended them or not (I
don't recall doing so recently, but I've been a fan of theirs for over
10 years) but I'm glad to hear your son enjoys that one so much. My son
just turned 3, and that's one his favorite songs too. His other
favorite songs are on the CD "Big Trouble", and include the title track
(which my son refers to as "the Monster Song") and "When I was a
Dinosaur" (complete with Keith and Ezra making dino-type sounds which
initially sort of frightened my son) and a beautifully written Lullabye.

If you ever get the chance, see them live at one of their family
shows.....they're a lot of fun for kids and adults alike. I was
attending their family shows long before I had kids of my own.


I think I was the one who recommended Trout Fishing in America.
You should also look into Gunnar Madsen's CDs, particularly "Old
Mr. Mackle Hackle", though "Ants in my Pants" is also pretty good.

Kid's music that adults can listen to with pleasure is far too rare
these days---support the artists who produce it!

That's the other CD we got I think on balance my boys like that one
a little better than "Mine" but we enjoy both.

I'll suggest another in this vein -- Bill Harley does some hilarious
kids' songs that the adults around here also enjoy. Our favorites
are "There's a Pea on my Plate" and "You're in Trouble". Similar
sense of humor to Trout Fishing in America, though without the
audience interaction schtick. (He has some recordings which are
just stories, which are also really funny, but we like the musical
recordings best.)
