Micaela's first joke
Whew, ok Laszlo's relieved...aside from beauty, sense of humor is up there
with his qualifications for a wife. :-) "Richard" wrote in message ... Occasionally, especially when tired, Micaela, now 9 1/2 months, exercises her vocal chords by repeating a constant pitch, constant volume note: "aaaaaah". A few days ago, she started this, and I decided to join her. We sat face-to-face, about a foot (30 cm) apart, nose-to-nose. I found her pitch and rhythm, and the two of us were "aaaaaah"-ing together, sounding like a single voice. aaaaaah aaaaaah aaaaaah aaaaaah aaaaaah aaaaaah aaaaaah aaaaaah aaaaaah aaaaaah This continued for several seconds, then, on one "aaaaaah," she suddenly raised her pitch, so I was no longer in step with her. She stopped "aaaaaah"-ing, looked at me, and giggled. Micaela's first joke. Richard dad to I-have-a-sense-of-humor Micaela |

He could sing "da da da da da da da..." to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Once, he noticed that we were singing "da da," and with a grin, he switched mid-song to "ma ma ma ma." Then he started switching back and forth; I'd sing with him, and he'd switch to the opposite of what I was singing, so we sang a "ma ma" and "da da" duet. His first joke, as I recall, was around 10 months. He had learned the word, "Boom!" which referred to blocks, since we were building block towers and saying "Boom!" when he knocked them over. Sometimes, Daddy would vary the exclamation to "Crash!" "ka-POW", "ka-blooie" and the like. So one night, DS would say "Boom" and when I replied "Ka-POW!" he'd laugh and giggle. Then he'd say "Boom" again, and look at me expectantly. Repeat 30-odd times. - Lynn |

Micaela's first joke
DD is only four months (today!) but yesterday she was acting out a joke. I
nibbled on her fingers and when I stopped and she stopped laughing, she put her hand to my mouth and pulled on my lip so I could do it again. We repeated this many times with her instigating each time. What fun! (Does this count as a joke even though it's physical? She was laughing.) -- Melissa (in Los Angeles) Mum to Elizabeth 4/13/03 "lynn" wrote in message ... Elizabeth, has he ever tried it? sorry for the mega late reply! no he hasn't. i'm always singing songs to DS & i'm always encouraging DS to have a go, so that's when we'll get the aahing going. i think it freaks DH out as he usually hears it in the bathroom when DS is having a bath & DH a shower. so the echo makes it sound a bit strange. and i'll continue on as long as DS will which can be quite a while. -- elizabeth (in australia) DS - born 20-aug-02 |

Sounds like DS has you well trained! ;-) (That's okay, Micaela can get me to dance with her slowly around the bedroom at 3am --- it comforts her, so I oblige.) that's a nice image, richard! -- elizabeth (in australia) DS - born 20-aug-02 |
