Default Lady Q Fertility Monitor?

I'm becoming increasingly dissatisfied using hormonal birth control (I'm
on the minipill right now, have been since 8 weeks post partum) and have
been looking at other options. I came across saliva fertility monitors
like the Lady Q (http://tinyurl.com/2ccfl). Has anyone here used
something like this as a birth control aid? Do they actually work? (For
conception or contraception?).

Thought I'd ask!

Em, From everything I have ever heard the saliva tests dont work on everybody
and are not a reliable contraception aid. You are suppost to put saliva on a
microscope type thing and watch for fern like patterns in your saliva but I
beleive they all come with a warning that not everybody will show that pattern
and alot of things can interfere with the liklyhood of seeing that pattern.

Thanks, Moni. I figured it would be took good/easy to be true! :-( I had
a lot of difficulty finding much about them online, aside from places
selling them. The sales info would frequently say, "can be used to
promote or prevent pregnancy," but then everything else was about the
promotion element and the monitors come with pregnancy tests, etc! I
imagine that if they really did work, they could really take over as a
popular contraceptive aid.

Back to brainstorming...

I agree with this general assessment. If you are using the saliva tests along
with BBT and cervical mucus testing to pinpoint the approach (and passing) of
O-day, it can be useful, but along it does not give you enough info.
