Update re Nursing Strike?!
Thanks a lot for the suggestions, R is nursing again :-)
My friend kept offering and R declined, but she started accepting it during nap time and at night when she was half asleep. Friend's supply was dwindling quickly (of course her pump had to break exactly now!), but malt beer and metoclopramide helped a lot :-) Two days ago, R woke up while still nursing and continued awake for a few more minutes. This morning she accepted nursing very eagerly after waking up, and when I spent the afternoon with them, R nursed at least 3-4 times :-) Mummy and toddler are happy again! So even at 21 months it can be a nursing strike, something that even the LLL counsellor thought very unlikely. -- Tatjana PCOS - TTC #1 for 2 years |

PS Update re Nursing Strike?!
And it seems like the culprit was found, too - my friend had used a new
shower gel marketed for kids (fruity smell, no tears etc.) on herself and the toddler, and today she found a small footprint on the back of the bottle saying that the gel contains a bitter substance to stop kids from eating it. Apparently, it's the same substance that was recommended to her in case she wanted to wean - just apply on both nipples. No wonder the kid striked :-( -- Tatjana PCOS - TTC #1 for 2 years |
