August 9, 18 issue of the New Yorker magazine. 8-9-2004.

Has a VERY DETAILED, LONG article on MSBP and its questionable use as a
diagnosis, based on little empirical evidence.

Ms. Reid, insisted her son suffered from asthma horribly. She was censured,
however, for taking her son to the ER constantly.

So DCFS in its unquestioned wisdom, sent the child to a FOSTER HOME. Sure
enough, not too many months later, the boy suffered a fatal asthma attack and
died.

Foster said no or little medical information was communicated with her.

You see, CPS often acts against poor families, whose only source of medical
insurance might be Medicaid or CHIP. Families with insurance can schlep their
children to specialists with impunity. And although, they may have co-pays,
they are far less likely to be the subjects of investigation, than those whose
only access remains the ER. Where, coincidentally the staff does NOT KNOW Mom
or her devotion to her child.

In fact, knowing too much is held against these poor Moms. After all, they
gotta know their place............ :-(

MSBP thoroughly discredited by the author of this article in the New Yorker,
which (for those who do not know) often carries state of the art journalistic
topics on social problems.
