Ritalin is a gateway to cocaine abuse

And if they are press releases, are they about the same study or different study? For having a Ph.D., you sure aren't bright. Jeff |

All indicate negative long-terms effects of ritalin, based on rat experiments. Yes, it is unfortunate that the authors have not put detailed reports and raw data on the web, so everyone can examine them. There is no excuse for burying tax-funded studies. There are millions of ritalin users who need this info. |

"Jeff" wrote Bottom line of the study: This study concurs with 11 previous studies in finding no compelling evidence that stimulant treatment of children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder leads to an increased risk for substance experimentation, use, dependence, or abuse by adulthood. Isn't it amazing how all those ritalin advocates can explain away the evidence that is staring them in the face? Ummmm.... 11 studies in humans out of 11 show that Ritalin does not increase the incidence of abusing drugs and you call it "explaining away the evidence"...yet...when you list 3 studies in rats we should all take heed. At least you are consistently inconsistent. -- CBI, MD |

Then post your own summary. http://www.nih.gov/news/pr/dec2003/nida-08.htm Yes, it is unfortunate that the authors have not put detailed reports and raw data on the web, so everyone can examine them. Everyone can examine them. There is the place in the hosptials called the "library". So go examine the raw data, if you know where it is. People have been asking for long-term studies on ritalin. Well here are 3 of them, and the results are all negative. |
