MY BABY'S DADDY
A film review by Steve Rhodes

Copyright 2004 Steve Rhodes

RATING (0 TO ****): * 1/2

MY BABY'S DADDY, a completely laughless comedy, wants to be a mild message
movie about the responsibilities of "knocking up" one's girlfriend.
Lifelong buddies Lonnie (Eddie Griffin), G (Anthony Anderson) and Dominic
(Michael Imperioli), the story's token white guy, find that their
girlfriends are pregnant. Unlike real life, none of the six consider
abortion, adoption, breaking up or completely shirking their
responsibilities.

The unbelievable and clichéd script has the women, played by Paula Jai
Parker, Bai Ling and Joanna Bacalso, all delivering at the exactly the same
moment. Before that we have to endure a mass farting scene at their Lamaze
class. "Endure" is a word that you'll be using a lot when thinking about
your time in the dark with MY BABY'S DADDY, as you endure one unfunny moment
after another. The kids in the movie are more endured than loved, as they,
conveniently ensconced in their portable car seats, get dumped from one
parent's "crib" to another's.

Will these immature adults eventually bond with their babies? What do you
think?

I had to endure this movie so that you could be spared. Not wanting to
waste any more of your time with a review of this miserable movie, I won't
even tell you about the robbery of the baby store as one dad, not one of the
story's leads, robs it in order to obtain everything his kid needs. A very
finicky robber, he refuses to steal any money. I'd recommend you refuse
too -- refuse to give this film any of your hard earned money.

MY BABY'S DADDY runs 1:26. It is rated PG-13 for "sexual content, language
and some drug references" and would be acceptable for most teenagers.

The film is playing in nationwide release now in the United States. In the
Silicon Valley, it is showing at the AMC and the Century theaters.
