(11/11/06 - FOREST CITY) - Three young sisters found inside their mother's
car Friday died from heat-related causes, authorities said Saturday.
Their 4-year-old sister, Anieniya Miller, was unconscious when the three
were found. She was flown to Mission Hospitals in Asheville, where she
died shortly after midnight Saturday of an apparent heat stroke, Scoggins
said. An autopsy was planned for Monday.
1. You cut the following paragraph, which appeared between the two
above.
"A preliminary autopsy report showed that Asia Shepard, 2, and her twin
sister, Bryasia Shepard, suffered heat-related deaths, said Rutherford
County Lt. Detective Billy Scoggins. "
Without the omitted paragraph, it could appear that a total of 4
sisters died.
2. I realize you copied the "Sibilings" portion of your header from the
headline at the news site, but it is spelled "Siblings"
3. I realize that you copied the "Car Trunk" portion of your header
from the headline at the news site, but the article itself does not
mention the trunk, and in fact other accounts specifically mention that
the children were found in the passenger area of the car

FOREST CITY - A 4-year old who was trapped in her mother's car
Friday died a heat-related death early Saturday at Mission Hospitals,
authorities said.
The girl's 2-year-old twin sisters, Asia and Bry'asia Shepard, were
found dead at the scene by emergency responders.
A doctor said An'niya Miller had symptoms of heat stroke and was in
critical condition when she was transported to the hospital Friday
afternoon, Rutherford County Sheriff's Lt. Billy Scoggins said.
He said preliminary autopsy results on the twins showed they also died
of heat exposure. An autopsy will be performed today on An'niya so
the children can be buried together.
Scoggins said Saturday he could not yet confirm how the children got
into the car or how long they were inside.
Family members said the mother of the girls, Ann Latrice Miller, 26,
was sleeping when her unsupervised children climbed into her car in the
parking lot of Woodlands Townhomes of Big Island Road near Forest City.
They said Miller had been working a late shift at a restaurant the
night before.
Miller could not be reached for comment Saturday night.
Scoggins said she had called 911 about 1:30 p.m. Friday after she found
her children unresponsive in the passenger area of the Honda Accord
just outside her door. Temperatures on Friday reached into the high
70s.
No charges have yet been filed. Scoggins said the investigation's
findings will be presented to the district attorney.
"We're still in the process of putting together our findings,"
Scoggins said. "We're trying to look at the history of the entire
family."
