Nursing help needed
My sister-in-law is 32 weeks pregnant with number two and is interested in
breastfeeding. She did not bf her first for all the wrong reasons and now after seeing me succeed at it with my 19 week old she wants to bf. The problem is that she has very little confidence in her abilities and doesn't know anyone in her area that has bf. I looked at the LLL website and there isn't a group in her area. (She lives in Victoria Texas) I recommended that she ask her hospital if they have a LC on staff. I have sent her some books but she has yet to read them (despite the fact that she is on bed rest most of the time...) She is online alot but not familiar with newsgroups and I am having a hard time explaining the concept to her but still working on introducing her to this group. Any other suggestions!? I am enjoying the bfing experience so much that I really want to share it with her. Thanks in advance for any help! Melanie Olivia Madison 2/28/03 |

I believe you can go to online chats with LLL and it is specifically for people without a chapter in their area. Here's a listing of the LC's in Texas...
http://www.breastfeeding.com/directo...tes/texas.html A great book on the subject is "So that's What they Are For" It takes a lighthearted look at BF'ing and is very unintimidating. She might be more open to that book if you send it... Good luck (and if you can be there close to the birth to give her lots of support that would probably be the best thing you can do for her?)
