It's already happening

Maybe young men are listening and figuring out that relations are too costly. The damage that family courts have reeked over the years is being noticed by the younger generations who find the married is just not worth the risk. This of course will generate even more single parent families with a whole new complex of problems. |

Actually I remember reading a study that showed the number of
divorces were going down in the age group of 18-35. But it also showed the the number of multiple children born in a home was going down as well. SpiderHam77 |

Yes this is true when you concider the total size of this age group is much smaller than 20 years ago! Maybe people are waiting longer too as a college education is not an option anymore. |

One guy I work with saw my check and said "That can't be right!" Before long we all had our paystubs out comparing deductions. It turned out that over half the guys there (about 100 work there) are paying child support. After CS, health insurance for the kids and taxes, none of us usually get to keep even half of what we earn. I have a son that will be told when he is young exactly what the score is. I won't tell him about the case between his mother and I, but I will educate him on the law so that he can see for himself what awaits him if he isn't careful. I was (like most guys my age) completely ignorant on the CS system. I was "protected" from the details growing up. What utter BS! The best protection is to go in fully informed. |

Yes, child support is not a well publicized issue! It's much like the health care issue where you occasionaly hear about some people going bankrupt because of medical bills from a heart attack, but as long as it doesn't effect the majority of people, nobody cares. I had a very minor auto accident recently and was sent to the ER for x-rays. For 4 hours the bill was a staggering $16,000. Can't imagine if I wasn't insured, but I was shocked at the price, much the same as the staggering CS rates. I agree, educating young men in their highschool years before they are forced into a family is the only way to go. I remember all too well the program I was on as a youth, I was going to get out of school, get a trade and get married, just like all the rest of everyone I knew. It was the thing to do back then in the 70's when families were intact and Child support was non existant. There was nothing to fear, but there sure is now! |

So far as I know, there are no organized efforts to educate young men about the brutal realities of current U.S. practices on divorce, custody, and "child support." By contrast, young women can hardly fail to get the feminist message that men are rapists, wife-beaters, and child-abusers. And, incidentally, at my son's suburban high school years ago a homosexual group from the city was being allowed to advertise its services in the school newspaper. It's only another indication of the distortions caused by political correctness. |

I'll give you an example of what I had (only for 4 years..). Now, granted, I was making a ton of money, but I was in the highest tax bracket (36%). Pile on 32% for child Support, 4% for social security/medicare, 2% for state taxes AND 15% for alimony. That is 89%, Yep- You read that right.. I did get a tax advantage for the alimony and 2% of the 4% stopped after I passed $80K and the 32% + 15% was based on net. All in all, it was around 73% of the money I made. I received myself though only 11% of my total pretax income. After the 4 years, the alimony went away but continued to pay CS obviously. |
