Can I be liable for Child Support?
My wife had a child when she was very young, before I ever even knew her.
She was fourteen at the time and she wanted to give the child up for adoption but the fathers family would not allow it and kept the child ( this was in 1996). Her and the father were never together after this and neither of them have been parents to the child, this happened in Massachusetts and after the child was born she was sent to Pennsylvania. The child has lived with the fathers parents forever. I married her four years ago and we have two children, word has gotten back to the grandparents of the child that she is married to a guy that does very well and now all of a sudden they file for child support from my wife. She does not work, has no income, owns no assets. Can I some how be forced to pay her child support? Either by them taking money from me or by the placing an order on her and because she does not work I still get stuck paying it so she does not go to jail. Can anyone help me with this? If she is ordered to pay anything, it will be minimal. She may be required to disclose your income but it will not be used to calculate child support. PA is not a community property state. |

How did they become legal guardians if no paper work was filed? Can the birth father also be forced to pay CS to the grand parents if a case is taken out against the mother? |
