Impact of ADHD drug changes
http://tvnz.co.nz/view/page/411749/1193198
Impact of ADHD drug changes Jun 21, 2007 Changes to the funding of drugs taken by children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder are coming under fire. In April, PHARMAC stopped subsidising Ritalin and replaced it with a generic brand Rubifen 1/8rooba-fin 3/8. National's Northcote MP Jonathan Coleman claims there are reports ADHD children whose medication has been changed have displayed a marked deterioration in behaviour, with some of them having to be removed from school. But Health Minister Pete Hodgson says fewer than 20 of the six thousand or so children on Rubifen have been affected. He says the change has brought savings of a million dollars a year. |
