Anyone else have this. I look at dirt and rocks lately and think they
look appetizing. Wow I sound like a real freak. I'm sure it's my body
telling me that I'm lacking something. but what? Anyone else. Thanks
for not instantly thinking I'm a fruit loop

Definitely let your doctor know about this. Some women do get it but it is
a sign that you are deficient in something. I can't remember whether it is
something specific or not but you need to be checked out when you are
craving non food items.

Seems a few people have said something similar, which brings me to ask...
What about smells? What if you have a major problem with smells and wanting
to smell things that probably aren't good to smell and things that normally
you don't like the smell of, but while pg, you just *love* those smells...
Is that something to bring up with the doc? Does that mean you're deficient
in something or just have some major issues?

I don't know the answer to that one sorry, but it would be worthwhile for
someone to raise that question. I just remember Pica being mentioned in
naturopathy classes and it wasn't considered a good thing.

After getting your iron level checked, get some of those Jelly Belly Bertie
Botts or Ant Bully Sweet Rock jelly beans. They come in flavors like dirt,
earthworm, grass, etc.

Thank you everyone for not making me feel like a complete weirdo.

I am going to talk to my midwife about it at my next appointment on
Tuesday. I mentioned something to my grandmother about it and she
reminded me, that as a child I used to eat packs of matches and rocks
and dirt all the time. Hopefully there is no association between the
two, but if there is then it appears it maybe more psychological then
deficiency. Last blood work came back that I had more then ample
amounts of iron in my system, but it maybe something else like
magnesium or something like that.

i have to say the anonymity of the internet is a wonderful thing. I
could never imagine sitting around a table discussing this with my
friends who are pregnant now
