Sippy Cups...
Hi Jamie,
Just popping over..... I am so glad that I am not the only one who has problems with the Gerber cups!! I bought them b/c my nephews had them and the twins liked theirs, but they leak all the time!! We have had good luck with the Playtex, any "model" actually. Although, Costco had a 4 pack of Playtex Insulators that are good. The valves are replaceable if they get yucky. They're cheap and easy! Really? Wow, I'll have to print this out and take it with me. At this
point, before I spend any money on sippy cups, we're going to try not using the handles on the Avents. But, it seems like the leak is coming from the threads, whether the handle is there or not. We'll see. I'll give it a day or two, and see what happens! -- Jamie & Taylor Earth Angel, 1/3/03 Check out Taylor Marlys -- www.MyFamily.com, User ID: Clarkguest, Password: Guest Become a member for free - go to Add Member to set up your own User ID and Password Handmade Baby Blankets -- www.geocities.com/digit_the_cat/Blankets.html "Donna" wrote in message ... "Jamie Clark" wrote in message ink.net... Okay ladies, I need your input and expertise. I need to buy new sippy cups, and I want to know what kind you and your toddlers like, and why. We also have 2 smaller Gerber sippy cups that I bought on vacation one time, since I forgot to pack enough bottles. The Gerber ones have a single piece valve that pushes into place. The problem is that Taylor drops the cup down and sometimes the valve pops out of place, so that the contents then spill out. These aren't too bad, and Taylor is used to them, so unless I get some other great recommendations, this is what we'll probably end up using. Oh, those damn Gerber sippy cups are WORTHLESS. The valves drop out all the time, and they spill like crazy. Don't spend a dime on the damn things. I just recycled every last one of mine, because I can't stand them. So, I'm looking for that perfect sippy cup -- easy to clean and put together, valves won't pop out or get lost, easy to grip and carry around, easy to drink from, won't spill if dropped or tipped over. You know what works for us? Those "The First Years" disposable plastic sippy cups. I bought about ten of them a year ago, and I put them through the dishwasher (on anti-bacterial) after every use, and they are still going strong. They're inexpensive, and they work like a charm. At this point, I won't use anything else. Hope that helps. Donna |

I haven't even tried Taylor with a straw yet. I switched her from the
regular bottle nipples to sippy cut nipples (all Avent) right around her 1 year birthday, and it was really simple and easy. But, now that the bottles are leaking on a regular basis, it's time to make some sort of change. -- Jamie & Taylor Earth Angel, 1/3/03 Check out Taylor Marlys -- www.MyFamily.com, User ID: Clarkguest, Password: Guest Become a member for free - go to Add Member to set up your own User ID and Password Handmade Baby Blankets -- www.geocities.com/digit_the_cat/Blankets.html "Richard" wrote in message ... I've been called a lot of things, but never a lady. I hope that doesn't matter. Micaela doesn't like sippy cups, period. She'll drink from a regular cup (usually not an option, since she's pretty sloppy) or through a straw. She does enjoy the built-in-straw cups, and drinks a lot more water when we offer it to her in one. Richard dad to anything-through-a-straw Micaela |

They're made for toddlers 18 months+ because they let out more liquid when the kids sip. Actually, we had the one with the green spout that gave me a headache trying to get anything out of it. I just bought new yellow spouts. |

It is a little anoying since the straw comes apart into 3 peices for cleaning and it has a no spill valve. I keep them clean with a pipe cleaner though and They are the first cup Bonnie would use on a regular basis... I think they come in packs of 2 for $5. or so. We have some, and Genevieve really likes them (she loves drinking from a straw), but ours leak. I like that the straw is soft, so when she leaps at the straw, she doesn't hurt herself on it. You know, we had them for a while and DS loved them. They absolutely did not leak and we bought replacement straws for them that worked well. The last batch of replacement straws leaked. I bought several more and they all leaked. It's like they are making them out of a different mold or something, but the new straws leak and I'm very bummed out about that. :-( |

Intro the First Years Take N Toss ones. Seven cups for around $3. They work excellently, only dribbling a little if one of the kids really throws them. I think a lid popped off once but that wasn't nearly the annoyance that a constantly dripping cup is. We use them and abuse them, wash them over and over and I feel no guilt at throwing them away when they are found rotting underneath the seat of the car since we get so many for less than the price of one of the "normal" cups. I have to second this recommendation. Might as well try them--couldn't be cheaper! Genevieve likes them, and you have to work hard to get any leakage. Best wishes, Ericka I think these are the ones we have, too. I got about 20 for $10 at Sam's Club over a year ago, and still have most of them. I love them, but if ds throws them on a hard floor, the lid will usually come off. He hasn't done that very often, though. (I have an assortment of other ones, too, before I found these.) Oh, if you turn them upside-down, they will leak. I wonder if we have a different brand, after all? Irene |

I don't think she meant put the lid on upside down, I think she meant turn
the whole sippy cup upside down, that it would leak. -- Jamie & Taylor Earth Angel, 1/3/03 Check out Taylor Marlys -- www.MyFamily.com, User ID: Clarkguest, Password: Guest Become a member for free - go to Add Member to set up your own User ID and Password Handmade Baby Blankets -- www.geocities.com/digit_the_cat/Blankets.html "toypup" wrote in message news:CQejc.26054$cF6.1125695@attbi_s04...
