Default comprehensive list of breastfeeding problems

Hi,

Does anyone have a good link to a comprehensive list of breastfeeding
problems, and their symptoms? I am looking for something a pregnant woman
might read to give her a quick overview, so she knows such things like
tongue tie, or over active let down exist. So if they occur, they have a
heads up in advance.

Thanks,

Leah

Default comprehensive list of breastfeeding problems

A friend gave me a copy of a book called "Bestfeading" that she found
really useful (she's nursing her third). There is a subtitle after
"Bestfeading" but I don't have the book handy so I can't give it to you
or tell you the authors (useful, eh!?). It's written by 3 women from
different countries (US, Canada, and England, I think), so it includes
insight into what moms in different places might hear from health care
workers. Just last night, I reached the section where they talk about
possible problems and solutions.

So far, I'm impressed with the book, but YMMV.

I think this is a bad idea and a setup. Info is so readily available on the
web... and I think more women will be harmed than helped by such a thing.
Think about "medical student syndrome..." Why give women the idea from the
start that there are dozens of ways that breastfeeding can go wrong? YES,
breastfeeding can go wrong, but I'd much rather say, "This is what it's
supposed to be like. If you're having trouble, ask for help early and
often!"

The Nursing Mother's Companion is an excellent book for first providing good
help, and providing a way to figure out what is going wrong. I'm not sure
I'd want anything more superficial.
