My favorite line: "My therapist told me it's the only way a woman can get married nowadays." ==== So, how long have you been reading Elle? ==== chuckle Very good question, Gini. Saw the article touted on the cover while waiting in line at the grocery store. It's not a magazine I'd purchase, or thankfully one that my GF would be into. - Ron ^*^ |

The latest issue of Elle magazine has an article dedicated to tricking a man into marriage by getting pregnant. My favorite line: "My therapist told me it's the only way a woman can get married nowadays." The horror... the horror... Men don't know how to say "I don't"? Obviously Elle magazine thinks they can't. Read the article - I did, and Werebat presents a somewhat skewed report of it. My bad. I read the first few paragraphs before the line moved and I had to put my purchases down, and by then I was disturbed enough that I didn't really want to read the rest (besides it was time to make my payment and get back to the car). I visited the link you posted and read the whole thing, which ends a bit more amenably than I had suspected. Still, what some of those women were saying near the start of the article was scary stuff. "In fact, I'm thinking of going off the pill myself!" UGH! It was interesting to hear that college-educated women over 25 who are living with their partners are the fastest-growing group of women having children out of wedlock -- especially since my GF may be joining their ranks in the not-so-distant future. - Ron ^*^ |

"In fact, I'm thinking of going off the pill myself!" UGH! --------------- I agree with you. The first two pages of reading that and I just wanted to slap the bimbo silly. I was relieved when she finally gets a clue that maybe her baybee rabies should be second to finding someone who she actually loves and can have a future with and who also wants those things. Why a woman would actively seek to become an unwed mother is beyond me. What with all the proof that kids raised by mom only tend to be much more likely to turn out poorly. That is just selfishness pure and simple. ---------------- It was interesting to hear that college-educated women over 25 who are living with their partners are the fastest-growing group of women having children out of wedlock -- especially since my GF may be joining their ranks in the not-so-distant future. ---------------- Run, don't walk and get a snip asap. Unless you want to, more-than-likely end up with more cs payments because second marriages(relationships), are even more likely to end up in divorce than first ones. I do find it odd though that these women are suddenly becoming baby rabid because another fast-growing group are college-educated women and men in successful careers that choose never to have children. Childfree by choice people are *generally* more educated and successful than childed folks. Hmmm, maybe it has something to do with not having been married yet for these women. I don't know and I just can't imagine. ~AZ~ - Ron ^*^ |
