Foster care provider's charged with raping children in their care
Hey Ron!
Did your precious child protective industry keep these kids safe? And please explain to us again how the real parents are responsible for this? Foster Parent Faces 58 Sex Abuse Charges http://www.wlky.com/news/15992834/detail.html JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. -- A foster parent has been arrested and now faces more than 50 charges of sex abuse. Charles Sparks, 60, was arrested Thursday on charges of child molesting, child seduction and sexual misconduct with a minor. Police said the abuse went on for years. Jeffersonville Police Detective Charlie Thompson has been on the force for 30 years and he says this is one of the worst cases he has ever worked. According to the probable cause affidavit, the abuse involved three of Sparks' foster children and started when they were as young as 5. Police said the victims also say the abuse happened almost every day, and the probably cause affidavit goes on to say the victims taped a phone conversation with Sparks in which he admitted to the abuse and apologized. Police said they began investigating in January after a 17-year-old ran away from the home, saying she couldn't take the abuse any longer. Sparks is facing a total of 58 charges. He's being held on a $100,000 cash bond. Police and the prosecutor are looking at whether they'll file charges against his wife, Linda, in connection to the case. ---- Foster care provider charged with raping child in his care http://rochesterhomepage.net/content...ext/?cid=15517 Shocking allegations involving a foster care parent, accused of raping a child in his care. The alleged victim in this case told police she was raped five times a week for four years. The victim tells police she felt like she had to and was even bribed to be quiet, starting in 2002, when she was 13, and ending in 2006 when she was 17. The man charged is a licensed foster parent with Monroe County. Lawrence Bright, 70, is charged with rape in the second degree, criminal sex act, and endangering the welfare of a child. The court documents state that many of the rapes happened at a house in Henrietta where the girl lived with Bright and his girlfriend since the time she was eight. In court documents she said "Larry never forced me to do anything, but I wouldn't refuse him because I didn't know what would happen to me." She also said, "I was afraid that if I moved foster homes, things would get worse." She also told police Bright tried to bribe her, that if she would drop the charges, he would get her a plane ticket to Florida, and she would get $100,000 in his will. Bright is due in court on Monday for a preliminary hearing. ---- |
