Default Slow rising hCG question

Fwiw, this was the time we started supplementing progesterone, 200 mg
Prometrium (micronized human progesterone) as a vaginal suppository
twice daily. Our numbers began to look much better. Of course, there is
a great debate on the efficacy of progesterone supplementation, it is
generally agreed that it can do no harm and might help. You might ask
about it.

Did you also have problems with slow rising hCG or only low progesterone?
Depending on how todays bloodwork comes back, I definitely will ask. I've
been taking wild yam now for almost a week, and spotting hasn't resumed.
It is hard for me to tell whether I feel pregnant or not, as I am too
afraid to rely on any bodily symptoms. If todays numbers are still going
up, I'll ask for suppositories, as I'd rather take the hormones in a more
controlled way.

I know about the debate in this respect, I've been reading a lot about it.
But I also know that for me, hormonal values in any sense have always been
off. As long as I've had Graves' disease, I've never felt OK when the
doctors told me the numbers were fine and vice versa. I can totally
imagine that it may be the same for my pregnancies, knowing that each time
there was an embryo, I've had spotting from week 5 onward... If things go
wrong again, I will definitely try get to the bottom of this.

Thanks for sharing this again Richard.

I can't really help you hon, but my midwife said that doubling hcg every
three days is not a hard & fast rule for a healthy pg. Mine didn't double in
three days or even come close with this pg, but it did rise enough for her
to be happy with it. I had some bleeding, passed a few small clots as well.
I hope things turn out differently this time, you'll be in my prayers.

Thanks for sharing Amy. It is good to know that the "rules" are flexible
in this sense. I'm still a nervous wreck, but at least I have some hopes
to hang onto. I'll consider myself pregnant until proven otherwise...

Default Slow rising hCG question (m/c ment).

Oh! I HOPE HOPE HOPE it all goes well and you have a little one on the way.
Until I had my U/S at 8 wks, I was so afraid I would m/c.
I didn't have any spotting but my boobs didn't stay as sore as they started
out. I think mainly I was freaked out because of the m/c in Nov. It's good
that the ectopic was ruled out. I am afraid I have no insight on the HCG
levels. I will send you many good wishes, prayers, and sticky baby vibes
though :-)!

Thanks a lot Jenn! I know what you mean: every time I feel something I
think it's a bad sign, every time I feel nothing I think it's a bad sign.

I don't have good news to share. This is how my miscarriage went. Yolk
sac seen at ~6 weeks. Slow rising hCG, low progesterone (~5). We watched
for another 2 weeks or so, my numbers rose but slowly. They finally
started to drop, near when I decided to do the D and E. The sac
grew some but a fetal pole was never seen.

I think it was a blighted ovum, but I never got a definitive diagnosis.

I hope your story turns out diffferntly.

Thanks for sharing Mary. I've had blighted ovum, and in that case they
didn't see anything, not even a yolk sac. The impression I got from the
u/s tech is that seeing a yolk sac at 5.5w was a good sign, so I'll try to
stay positive as long as I can.

Oh, and they also said my uterine lining was "irregular", whatever that
means. I think taking wild yam is a good idea, I do sometimes wonder
if I had supplemented with progesterone if things would have turned out
differently.

Its good to see others have had more positive stories! I'll be thinking
good thoughts for you and your wee one.

Mary

Thanks Jenn. I could use some good vibes, I had another blooddraw today
and will hear the results back tomorrow. I still cannot shake this nagging
that something is off again, but it's hard to say whether that lies in my
previous experience or not.

That's what I've been wondering about myself, noticing how similar things
are feeling and going compared to last time I m/c'd. I don't feel guilt or
something, just wonder if it might have been the same issue. Guess I'll
never know. As I mentioned elsewhere, I have a history of weird numbers
and still being OK, it may also be the case in my pregnancies. We'll see.
