The public nurse at the WIC office actualy was telling me that breathing
technique.. I almost laughed at her.. I have the same line for the heehee
hoooo people that I have for the people that tell me to go walk to get labor
started... "Have fun I will be resting and saving my energy for the
important stuff"

Tori, I am surprised you could hold back your laughter! They actually
told you about "hee hee hoooo" at WIC and were serious? LOL! That's
really funny.

They even gave me a handout about it.. Honnestly it took all my might not to
laugh at her... I agreed to see the public nurse.. figured it could not hurt
anything and they said my midwife encouraged it.. I found out that really it
was a waist of an hour once a month

Wendy asked:

Do nursing bras and shirts
really help that much?

You are going to have to experiment with that to find out. For one thing,
different women, being shaped differently, may find them more or less helpful,
and then there are lots of different nursing openings available. Myself, I
have never found them useful as my breasts are too far apart.

What works for me is any shirt I can lift up from the bottom. I used to say
really big shirts but this last time I found all that material got too much in
the way. I now prefer something that has just enough material for modesty, but
not so much that the baby drowns in it. :-)

Wouldn't a camisole with a built-in bra be just
as good? I just felt really weird at my in-laws or the mall/grocery
store etc. lifting up my shirt and trying to get DS to latch on. And, he
didn't really like to be stuck nursing under a blanket. Any practical
advice on how I can bf discreetly?

This is something that is going to take practice. I always used a blanket with
my first, and stopped nursing in public at 6 months. I never used a blanket
after number 2. You'll feel awkward the first few times but you just have to
keep doing it. A lot of people find it reassuring to watch themseles in a
mirror so that they can see what others see, and realize it is not as bad as
they thought!
