"Dennis Here" I am just about to read Freddie the book that contains all the answers to the above as well as the meaning of life, the universe and everything. It is called "The Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy, and the answer is 42. A most excellent read, but not one I've ever heard anyone say their parents read to them. Much better to make books like that easy for the kid to discover on his own. The BFG, now that's a great read-aloud books. Voices galore, and Roald Dahl can't be beat. I have read him most of the Dahl books already. Anyway, I just spent most of the flight back from Italy entertaining not just Freddie, but the adjacent passenger and the row to the front and rear of us with my rendition of Marvin the paranoid android. I sort of lost my way a little during the Vogon poetry though ;-) I am glad you know of no other parent reading this kind of stuff, it's the kind of reason my older boys tell me that I was totally unlike any other fathers they new! Besides, I let them discover things like Viz for themselves by leaving mine laying around. LOL! My 9-y-o asks his stepdad every couple of weeks if he can pleeeeeeeeease read Viz! lm Boy, and Viz has changed since its launch. At the moment I think I would tend to keep it away from my kid (4.5). In the early days of Viz though I did actually make a pilgrimage to the Trent House in Newcastle (the pub Viz was always plugging). Can't tell you how good, someone else drove back. I was 'tired'. Think that was '85 but I could be wrong. Always been a fan of Hitchhikers Guide but a bit early for mine. Looking forward to introducing her to the Moomins and the Narnia series which I loved so much. Andrew Andrew |

My 9-y-o asks his stepdad every couple of weeks if he can pleeeeeeeeease read Viz! It was harmless enough in the Johnny Fartpants days but it can be somewhat OTT now. They seemed to run out of good new characterd and reverted to more smut. Modern Parents always made me laugh as it reminded me of my first wife! Dennis |
