Default Introduction - Gassy 5 month old

Hello,
I've been lurking here since my daughter was born the end of March. I've
found your posts to be so helpful. I've been breastfeeding my daughter very
successfully since day one. She has had consistent weight gain of close to
an ounce a day and now weighs nearly 15 lbs, from a birth weight of 6lbs
3oz.

She has been very healthy and she's had no problems with colic (or any other
health issues). However, for the past 6 nights she has had painful gas every
night at about 9 pm. Last night she had gas at 9 pm and then at 2 am, 6 am
and 9 am. Each time she was in real pain for about 10 - 20 minutes. I can
hear the gas gurgling in her lower abdomen and then she farts like crazy.
She has also been spitting up more than usual. She has always spit up
several times a day, but this week she has been spitting up at least once if
not 2 or 3 times after almost every feeding.

I really can't think what has changed this week. My diet is pretty much the
same, although we've had a lot of company and I've eaten more sweets than
usual. Also, the gassiness did start the same day as she received her most
recent round of vaccinations.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Debbie.

I've been drinking a cup of fennel seed tea every morning
and every evening, and that's reduced Caterpillar's spells
of painful gas from several times a night to once every few
weeks. Mylicon drops also help with the occasional gassy spell.
