Just look at the statistics from vaccine injury compensation program. http://www.hrsa.gov/Vaccinecompensat...ics_report.htm DTP (diphtheria-tetanus-whole cell pertussis): compensated claims 1263. DTaP (diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis): compensated claims 78. Quite a difference, isn't it? Yep. Now tell me what relevance the DTP figures have to today. And total compensated claims: 2233, that is 1263 for DTP and 970 for everything else (that even includes DTP-HIB). Yep. Now tell me what relevance the DTP figures have to today. JOHN stated that DTaP is safer than DTP. You stated: "No, it's not". The VICP statistics prove his statement is correct, unlike yours. Relevance to today is a different issue that was not discussed in this thread, invoking it is a lame attempt to change the topic. Learn to read. John said "the safer DPT is DTaP". Is that a true statement? That is nitpicking. He meant "a safer version of DPT is DTaP" which is obviously true. No, it is not true. A safer version of the Corvette is a Hyundai Excel. Think about it. DPT (or DTP) is a vaccine that was used to prevent diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis. DTaP is a vaccine that is used for exactly the same purposes and that replaced DTP because it is safer. What part of that don't you understand? I understand that it is a completely different pertussis vaccine, made in a different way using different techniques and based on different science. A safer form of the AK47 is a tambourine. Think about it. This is not an English exam, and you are not a professor. Precision in the use of language is not just a matter for English professors (or even professors of English). And how do you know that I am not a professor? Nine hours from now I will be teaching a class at a college. -- Peter Bowditch aa #2243 The Millenium Project http://www.ratbags.com/rsoles Australian Council Against Health Fraud http://www.acahf.org.au Australian Skeptics http://www.skeptics.com.au To email me use my first name only at ratbags.com |
