Default Long-distance baby shower

My cousin is expecting, and lives ~1500 miles away from the rest of the
family. Has anyone had or given a long-distance baby shower, and how
did that work?

We did a long distance shower for my sister in law, much like the way
Ericka described, with the videotaping, etc... I was not involved in
the planning, and actually was kind of uncomfortable with the
video-talking to someone parts, and I think my mom and the others who
planned it went a bit overboard, but that's just me. I'm sure the
presents were appreciated. Some of the larger presents were purchased
online, I think, and available to pick up in their State, or delivered
directly to them instead of to the gift-giver and then mailed with the
rest of the (smaller) gifts, in one box.

It's a nice idea, though! I hope it all works out.

Tina.

I thought that it would have been better if we had
been able to have had a webcam set up and see
her open the gifts, and maybe have her mom and
sister there with her at her house in Florida (they
live in the same town as her).

That would be cool. We (or I should say, DH has a large TV so if it
could be hooked up through the computer to show her on the TV it would
almost be like she's actually here. ;-) I'll have to find out if
that's possible. If not, then I'll propose what Ericka and Tina
described and have people bring their unwrapped gifts to wrap at our
party (since half the fun of a baby shower is oohing and aahing over the
cute baby stuff!) then we'll all send them to my cousin to unwrap at her
leisure.
