How long does LAM last before you have to worry?
"Donna Metler" wrote in message
news Alli's 14 months. I currently pump only twice a day-morning and night. I still haven't gotten AF back. WHile I admit to it having been kind of nice to go almost 2 years without a period, I'm starting to get concerned. So far, home pregnancy tests are negative. I'm on the mini-pill, and have been since 6 weeks post-partum. I went without a period for 19 months after my second was born. Admittedly, I was tandem nursing for a substantial proportion of that time and probably still nursing more often at 19 months when it came back than you are pumping, but it was a very long time and it doesn't seem to have harmed me g! Some women find that their cycles are suppressed for as long as they do ANY nursing at all, though, even if it's only once a day. You could be in that group. Also, FWIW, there is no evidence to my knowledge that NOT having a period is at all bad for you, as long as the reason isn't because you've lost insane amounts of weight or something. You don't NEED to have them to be healthy. (The placebo pills in regular BCPs that make you have a period are only there because the manufacturers believe women are more "comfortable" when they have regular periods. But they're not "real" periods in any sense of the word.) Also, I've heard that for some women, mini-pills suppress periods completely for a very long time, so it's possible that the mini-pills are what's suppressing yours. Hope that eases your mind a bit! -- Be well, Barbara |

I started the mini pill after both DD1 then DD2. With DD1 I never had a
period while on them ever. With DD2 I had a couple of periods and times of spotting till the hormone levels worked themselves out. Apparently since the mini pill tires to fool your body into thinking it;s pregnant that why usually women have fewer or no periods while on them. -- Pip My girls : DD1 Jasmine - 5 weeks early - 21 March 02 - "I'm a big girl cause I go to school kindy" DD2 Abby - 8 weeks early - 3 Feb 05 - and took her first steps on her 1st Birthday. you don't need to include the first paragraph, no bleeding at all is fairly normal on the mini pill, personally I got very occasional spotting, but I don't think the first lot was until DS was past a year, I'd had a couple of regular periods before going on the mini pill though Anne |
