How to handle bad daycare teacher
Many times I saw bruse on my son's leg since he joined the daycare, but
he was 3 yrs old then, and he couldn't explain what happened logically. Now he just turned into 4 years old. Yesterday I found a big bruse again on his leg, and I asked him what happened. His answer makes me very sad and hopeless, he answered my question without any hesitation: he said that his teacher ticked him on his leg. I asked why he( a male teacher) kicked , my son said without hesitation again, "because I tear black paper".... My gut feeling is that he is telling the truth. I asked more details, and he is able to describe all the details. Now I don't know what should I do with the teacher and the daycare. My wife and me both work, so we have to send him to a daycare- Has any parents here expericed such problem? Is this normal? I grew up in a different country, and grew up with my parents and grand parents, so never experice such thing myself, but I would feel very hopeless if I was him. Any suggestions, ideas about what should I approach the daycare and the teacher? Thanks very much ahead. -Novtim |

Absolutely. Write down everything your son told you as well as you can, word for word, too. -L. |

How to handle bad daycare teacher
One kick, bruise, slap or anything else inflicted upon a child is one
too many!! Take very accurate and factual notes of what you found and what your child told you. Call the police. Get the help of your local church or similar organization. Make an appointment with your childs pediatrician. CALL1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453) Then Push 1 to Talk to a Hotline Counselor. There are professionals and translators in 140 languages who can give the most accurate course of action. Do not send your child back to the daycare again. If you can, find a new daycare IMMEDIATELY. Take pictures of the bruises, and take your son to the police dept and ask them to take pictures and file a complaint against the teacher and the center he works for. Nan |

that's not just bad, given you believe your son, remove your son from the
daycare immediately, write everything down and inform the daycare, then inform the police (I believe it is polite to inform the day care and given them 24hrs to act, it gives them a chance to do the right thing and suspend the teacher in question). Anne |

I would file a complaint with the police department, and try to find
another day care. THe teacher has no reason to kick you son whats so ever. How to handle bad daycare teacher
You have to send him to daycare, but you don't have to send him to that
daycare. The options for 4 yr olds (who don't require particularly restrictive ratios) are pretty wide, so I'd look elsewhere. Even if the teacher isn't abusing your son, at best he's allowing your son to be injured without notifying you. I would also notify the center director and daycare licensing, but the first thing to do is to protect your child. -- Donna DeVore Metler Orff Music Specialist/Kindermusik Mother to Angel Brian Anthony 1/1/2002, 22 weeks, severe PE/HELLP And Allison Joy, 11/25/04 (35 weeks, PIH, Pre-term labor) |
