Getting rid of the soother
My little one is now ten months old and I want to rid her of her soother.
She mainly uses it to get to sleep and the very odd time during the day. With eight teeth, I am getting concerned that the soother will start effecting her teeth. Any suggestions? -- ..oO rach Oo. |

With eight teeth, I am getting concerned that the soother will start effecting her teeth. Any suggestions? Personally, I wouldn't worry all that much, especially since she's not using it that much. There isn't any way to really make it easy--you pretty much just have to go cold turkey and get through it. There are some things that can make it a bit easier, though: 1) Pick your time. Try not to do it at a time when she's particularly needy. 2) Don't yank it without helping her develop some other coping mechanisms. Does she have a blanky or other way of soothing herself? If not, try to help her establish something before you pull the soother. You've got some time to plan a transition. While it is possible for it to affect her teeth, they're so malleable at this state that they just go back to where they should once she's not using it (unless it goes on for a long time). Best wishes, Ericka |
