How to increase the father's child support fees?

"fathersrights" wrote Often ssi payments received by a child can be used as an offset toward child support. == You are confusing SSI with SSD. Makes me question accuracy of the other information on your website. FYI: SSI is Social Security for indigent disabled people only. There are no SSI payments to dependents. SSD, on the other hand, is SS for disabled workers based on their prior earnings. If the earnings are such that the SSD provides more than the basic necessities, the worker's dependents may also receive benefits. If so, the benefit amount is typically credited toward the disabled worker's child support obligation. Although the thread was not about a disabled child, disabled children can receive SSI. I am not certain if there is a reduction due to the parent's income or not. If not, the child has his/her own income from which he/she is supported. If that be the case, shouldn't the SSI be an offset to support obligations? Beverly |

SSI will not lower CS. CS will be used to *lower* SSI payments. Too, if a child is receiving SSI, the child is most certainly receiving Medicaid/public assistance, in which case, the CS will go to the state. |

She is pretty certain that he is making a lot more money now than when he was originally ordered to paychildsupport. She was told that she could not take that to court unless she was able to prove that his income has increased. Does anyone know why she needs to prove this herself and is there any way to do this? Is there a way to get access to his tax records or something like that? thanks, John Some reason? Maybe like, say, the fact that he's a seasonal worker? And for that matter, spring's just around the corner. Has she thought about taking a job, second or first? How about going for a promotion, or working overtime? Yes she has definitely thought about taking a job. She would love to have a job. She was very happy when she was working, and now she is depressed and stuck at home b/c of a car accident and various other ailments. I don't think she is in any condition to be working at all.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - If she were the one PAYING the support and gave these same reasons to a judge for not paying child support, she'd be in jail...somehow, we are supposed to feel bad for her luck...but if the shoe was on the other foot, she'd be called a deadbeat... |
