But I really wanted to use the electric!! You may not be doing anything wrong. Have you been using the Isis regularly, or did you just use it that one time? It could be that you just don't let down for the electric pump very well (and it might stay that way) or it could be a practice effect. I used the Isis very successfully, but if I took, say, a month off from pumping, I'd have a hard time starting back up again. Different pumps really can make a big difference in how much, if any, milk you can get-- especially if you're touchy that way. Best wishes, Ericka |

I used the Avent Isis and was able to get 3.5 oz! Wahoo! The Medela mini-electric was rec'd to me as a good choice if I didn't want to spend for the Pump In Style. I can't help you with the M-E, but just wanted to say I still really want to try the Isis! A hand pump has been advantageous to me more often than I would have thought for quick and efficient pumpings. 3.5 ounces is more than I usually have the patience to get out of the PIS because I get tired of sitting! Other than not getting any milk, is the M-E comfortable and unclumsy to use? I wonder how it compares to the PIS- and wonder if I could have done without spending all that money. I have over 30 ounces in the freezer at this point. I have 3 Avent bm storage cups (6 oz. each) full, and I don't know how many bags. The 6 oz portions are in case I know I will be away for several feedings in a row, someone can just thaw and use it within 6 hours of thawing, a portion at a time poured into a bottle. BM pumping is not as easy as it sounds!!! Jill |

A hand pump has been advantageous to me more often than I would have thought for quick and efficient pumpings. 3.5 ounces is more than I usually have the patience to get out of the PIS because I get tired of sitting! I would like the PIS. I tried again today and was able to get 2 oz out! I was shocked. It's terribly loud, though. I am glad I got it. I'll use both the Isis and Mini Electric until I decide whether I want the PIS. Other than not getting any milk, is the M-E comfortable and unclumsy to use? I wonder how it compares to the PIS- and wonder if I could have done without spending all that money. Wished I could get the PIS...honestly....argh!! Wow! That's allot. I threw out 2 of the bottles and am now down to 2 bags and 1 2oz bottle. I think I'm going to put the milk in a separate tupperware container so it isn't laying in the freezer with all the other stuff. -- ~Carol Ann Mom to Morgan born 3.24.04 http://tinyurl.com/2botd ---Pictures! |
