Default Milk going sour too quickly

I've noticed that suddenly my EBM is going sour really quickly anybody know
why this is? The temp of the fridge is ok. The only thing I can think of
is that I'm not very well at the moment. I'm waiting to see a cardiologist
because of a very irregular heartbeat, that is making me feel really crappy
and tired all the time. I can understand this affecting my supply levels,
which it seems to have, but would it affect the quality of m milk as well?

TIA

Well I don't know about you being unwell and a link with the milk going sour
quickly. What did go through my mind was - do you keep the milk in the
fridge door? The weather has gotten that little bit warmer and this *could*
make a difference. Other than that, no clue.

No I always make sure it's in the main part of the fridge so that it's at a
constant temperature. It's got me baffled - not so long ago my milk would
keep for almost a week before starting to go sour. On another note there
was a Lollipop nappy display in one of our local shopping centres today - of
course my mother in law only told me about it this evening and not at 11 am
when she saw it ( But I'm going tomorrow just in case it's there again -
she said the rainbow fleece outers were gorgeous.

Good old mother-in-laws eh!!

Oh and they *are*. They are our favourite right now- soft n cuddly but
funky too and easy to use. A brilliant little add-on to your prefolds - and
the Rainbows are stuffables so that's where they tie in with your prefolds
:-) How convenient - stuff with a prefold :-)

I did warn Yvette and Jacky that you be flying in but only Yvette got back
to me (incidentally I haven't physically met either of them)

Good luck

I don't know what you mean by 'sour'. If 'soapy' is a better description,
maybe it's an excess lipase problem. I've heard this can be corrected by
scalding the milk after pumping and before storing, to deactivate the
lipase. If it's genuinely sour, though, I'm afraid I don't have any idea.

I don't know - seems unlikely to me. I don't have any really plausible
explanation but I just wonder, what are you storing the milk in and how are
you cleaning it in between uses? It strikes me as just possible that maybe
some bacteria are surviving from one use to the next, in which case that
might be the explanation. Maybe try sterilising the container, assuming
you're not doing that routinely, and see if that makes a difference?

How does it smell? Pukey like vomit, or metallic and soapy? I have
high lipase and have to scald my milk within about 24 hours of pumping
or it smells *vile* -- an intense, burn your nostrils soapy smell. If
I scald it, then it keeps like normal milk. Apparently this problem
can come and go, so even if it wasn't an issue before it could start
being one now.

It's not the soapy smell, I get that sometimes with thawed EBM and thw twins
take it fine - it's really sour and twins won't take it. Fortunately DH had
extra to give them that day so we were ok. I'm not doing anything different
to what I normally do so I can't understand it, I guess we'll have to see
what happens.

It's the Ameda Lactaline Dual - aka the purely yours

I've now had it all to pieces - sterilised everything three times. Don't
know what to do next if it keeps happening.
