Naturopath found guilty of baby's manslaughter

A Supreme Court jury has found a naturopath from Port Stephens,
near Newcastle, guilty of the manslaughter of 18-day-old baby,
Mitchell James Little in 1999.

Reginald Fenn, 74, showed little reaction when the jury delivered
its guilty verdict in Newcastle this afternoon, after around six
hours of deliberations.

Baby Mitchell died from a heart condition known as aortic
stenosis on September 25, 1999.

The Crown accused Fenn of negligently contributing to the
infant's death by claiming he had cured the infant by placing him
on a Mora machine, then persuading his parents not to go ahead
with surgery.

Fenn is not expected to be sentenced until later this year.

His defence counsel Simon Harben told acting justice Peter Newman
his client is suffering health problems and needs to undergo a
series of medical tests before sentencing submissions can be
made.

Outside the court, Mr Harben said it was a tragic case and he was
disappointed with the outcome.

Fenn has been granted continuing bail.

He's only a couple of years older than Linus Pauling was when
he published his first book on Vitamin C as cure-all. Surely
you're not suggesting that Pauling should have retired before
doing that?
