I want to stop breast feeding
Thanks Sue.
The thing is, when I am at work, he does only get a nighttime and a wake-up feed. But when I am home, he is just never off the boob. Of course, that's because he's missed me and loves it when I am home with him (which is, luckily, most of the week), but I would like it to a the very least reduce to nighttime/morning first and then stop all together pretty soon. We'll get there though! -x- Jolande On Aug 2, 3:24 pm, "Sue" wrote: Taking away a feed at a time is usually leads to them weaning. Let him pick out a new sippy cup or something so he has an incentive? Good luck.) -- Sue "Jolande" wrote in message oups.com... Hi, My name is Jolande, my son is 20 months old and still breastfeeding. As lovely as it has been, it is really getting on my nerves now (god that makes me sound horrible), and I really want to stop. He is, of course, not in agreement with this plan and I thought that maybe I could find some non-harmeful, natural remedies that could help to stop the lactation? I managed to wean him of one of my boobs, and there is no more milk there now, and if he tries and nothing comes out, he gives up straight away. I've read about breast-binding, which sounds horrible and luckily I have also read that it doesn't work. The other tips I found was sage tea and cabbage leaves. Any tips? Thanks lots! We'll get there though! My boys are 15mos and nursing twice a day. I'd like to quit too but am not having much luck with the usual gentle methods mentioned. Anyway - when I cut them down to just the two nursings a day they were not happy, at all. I was committed to cutting them down though so I just held my ground. They still often cry to nurse in the middle of the day and it has been months. I did the things mentioned above but one thing that did help (which I didn't try until about a month into it) was to lie down in the floor with them for a good 1/2 hour (sometimes this would have to be longer) frequently through out the day. They hardly ever cry to nurse when I'm on the floor. Before that I would just try and distract them and/or not ever sit down - so they were missing out on both the milk and the close snuggles etc. They like floor time a lot. Of course, now they cry anytime I'm not sitting on the floor with them, lol. I think that is mostly the age though The used to be on me the whole time but they just like me to be hanging out in the room with them now. Good luck. I might try the Sudafed trick once we get into the school routine and things settle down. -- Nikki, mama to Hunter 4/99 Luke 4/01 Brock 4/06 Ben 4/06 |

They can be stubborn little things, these children, can't they! lol Anyway - when I cut them down to just the two nursings a day they were not happy, at all. You make a good point, when I am on the floor with Bowe, he doesn't ever want to nurse. Didn't see a link into that actually! I don't mind being on the floor, I think it's great fun to play on 'toddler- level', makes me feel more conected with how DS sees the world. Besides, my sofas aren't very comfortable lol. Good luck. I might try the Sudafed trick once we get into the school routine and things settle down. I've been taking Sudafed now for a few days, and I'm not sure whether ther already is a difference. DS seems to be nursing a lot more and a lot louder, I don't know whether that is because there is less milk due to the sudafed or due to the fact that he has nursed a lot more. Or both. I don't notice any side-effects from taking sudafed, other than no head-aches, so I will keep taking it for now I think. Thanks! -x- Jolande -- Nikki, mama to Hunter 4/99 Luke 4/01 Brock 4/06 Ben 4/06 |
