Default no-cry breastfeeding solution?

J's Mama wrote:

Well, I have to admit that not worrying sounds nice...! I want to
ask one more question, though, because it gets more to the heart of my
concern, perhaps, than my intital question. My little guy hardly ever
seems to WANT to nurse, and I wish he did.

Sorry, I came into this thread late. How
old is he? If he's over 6 months (as you
are discussing solids), he may be too
interested in the world to nurse. Try nursing
in a dark, boring place.

Starting about 5 months, Rocky would thrash
and arch his back because he would rather look
at things instead of nurse. I would just hold
him firmly, in a boring place, and put him
right by the nipple. He usually nursed
happily then.

Now, at 13 months, he would nurse a bit, then
decide to run around the house. Nurse another
little bit, run around again. It's frustrating,
because sometimes he pops off at the letdown
and then it's painful!
