Default question about return of fertility

I had my third baby in October and it is taking my body a lot longer
to get back to normal. With the other two, I went back to work at 3
months and was pumping twice a day. AF returned within two weeks and
was very regular after that. This time, I went back to work at 8
weeks. When I first went back to work, I would meet DS for one
feeding at lunchtime and then pump for another. Recently, I've been
meeting DS for both feedings about half the time, so I'm only pumping
2-3 times a week. I've had two periods that were lighter than normal,
and am starting a third. They've been roughly 5-6 weeks apart. I am
used to having very regular 27-28 day cycles. I've been charting
temperatures and it appears that I am not ovulating. Is it common to
have 3 or more anovulatory cycles after a pregnancy? I thought I had
heard before that you usually only have one. We don't want to TTC,
but it would be nice to just be back to normal. I hate not knowing
what my body is doing.

Thanks!

Default question about return of fertility

What's "normal" for a mother that is exclusively breastfeeding is
that her period will usually not return until after 6 months,
sometimes not for as long as she continues to breastfeed.
You sound like your period returns much sooner than normal.

Default question about return of fertility

I've been breastfeeding exclusively with my 9 month old (first bubs) and
absolutely no sign of the monthly - not that I mind in the slightest!

Friends who've been feeding for almost a year haven't had their monthly yet
either.

This is well within the range of normal. Nursing (particularly at night)
can affect hormone production enough that you don't ovulate, even though
your body is gearing up to it - and it can happen once, or not at all, or
many times. Remember that lots of women don't menstruate at all until their
babies are over a year old, or even longer - and anything between that &
the immediate return of menstruation is normal. IOW what you're
experiencing isn't a problem, it's just a variation :-)
