Gosh, here I am, a child of the 60s who spent a helluva lot of time
protesting the war, the draft, the voting age
( for the children among us--it used to be 21, while the draft called up
18 year olds,) no soda machines in the cafeteria,
the school dress code and virtually ALL those things eventually changed
because of public pressure. Now, I'm dumbfounded
at the fatalistic attitude coming out of you guys. Just what the hell do
you plan to do? Moan on Usenet forever?

A wise man does not enter a war during a battle he cannot win.
Look at what you wrote: "public pressure". Not taking over, not
overthrowing the government... public pressure. For every parent that has
been through the custody and support mill, there's always a moonshyne
pooh-poohing their misery because she didn't feel a thing. NOW et al, goes
to great lengths to use innuendo to paint fathers as pure evil and it
works.

Now is a disgusting bunch. Tax exempt too, so our taxes go to support a
group that totally degrads the idea of fatherhood. I can't stand them.
They make the pitch that women are 100% equal (which I totally agree
with), then twist things to make it appear women are defensless and
weak and that men (fathers) are nothing but a bunch of battering
deadbeats. Vomit.

Not to go into the many different women's shows on TV that do the same.
Oprah being one of the worst and nearly every movie shown on women's
channels are anti-male.
Then there's the commercials like the ones for Dish TV where the man is
always a numbskull while the wife and her neighbor is all-knowing.
There's hundreds of those type messages although sometimes the whole
family, including the pets, are smarter than stupid old dad.

yes, they see no problem for men to take on another job to pay the high
court ordered support!
Problem is, it's hard enough keeping just one job, but why should anyone be
expected to work two jobs?

Just as in the army, you have to dehumanize the enemy, makes it easier to
kill them!

Yep. The judge told my husband to get another job if he couldn't afford the
1200. a month CS,
even though the mom was only working part time as a college instructor. (A
part time college instructor
isn't working a whole lot of hours. But, she still enjoyed that 48,000. net
income.) Heh, can't
imagine how she's getting by now ;-)

Wow, $48000?

Highest I ever made was $28,000 in 1998. I don't ask for much, but I had a
decent apartment and a good reliable car too. If it were not for my present
wife, I'm sure I would be living in conditions not fit for any human being.
Maybe the deportation is a good thing, I don't think she could weather
another 12 years of these stormy waters.

Yep. Net, too. And she still had a car repoed and got evicted. After that
she moved into a
4BR condo at 950. a month.

950 is a real bargain!

most places that would dirt cheap for a 4 bedroom apartment!

What is this woman doing with all the money and how can that be good for the
child if she is demonstrating she cannot handle her financial affair
properly?

Not where she lives in FL--It's real pricey. I've checked the rents there.

This was several years ago. The kids are grown and we don't pay support
anymore.
However, when she provided her living expenses to the court, I remember
135.00 mo
for her hair (not the child's hair, mom's hair). There were also student
loans (mom's),
several charge cards, continuing payments on the re-poed
car, etc. The amount she listed as direct child expenses was a little over
300.00
(no daycare at that time, kids were older+ full medical coverage paid by
employers).
I don't think the judge ever even looked at that affidavit. She was always
broke and told the kids
it was because she wasn't getting enough CS. They were pretty shocked to
find out how much we
were actually paying. I can't imagine how she's getting by now. With all
that money, she never even bought
a house, which we managed to do while paying it. Heh, but it's no matter to
us anymore.
