I applaud this precaution by the airline. After all, a grown man
sitting next to a child COULD molest the child. In fact, I've heard of
complaints from adult women about the fact that some man sitting next to
them on a plane journey pestered them. To me, the solution is obvious.
Airlines should have a designated area for adult males at the back of the
plane, and they should be directed to sit there. Oh wait, hasn't today been
designated in the U.S. as a day to honor Rosa Parks? Perhaps the airlines
had better wait until all the hoopla about Ms. Parks dies down.

And statistically, more women than men perform child abuse. Perhaps we
should have a designated "safe area" on planes for children only so
they don't come in contact with abusing women or pedophile men.

Afterall, "it's for the children".

My daughter flies alone at times and I can't say I was EVER concerned about
who she was sitting next to.

And to be frank, if they are going to separate men because they might pester
women, they could separate obese ppl to because it can be pretty
uncomfortable if you have to sit next to one. As a matter of fact, can they
separate the ppl who want to chat from the ppl who want to read because
damn, it sucks to get next to a chatty person? And if we really want to
continue with this insanity, maybe all young men should be separated from
older women who might be predators.

What could anyone do in an airplane seat anyway? People flying in airliners
are nearly in constant sight from passengers and flight attendants.

This whole issue is rather insane as you have noted.

What's insane is that all men are presumed to be dangerous!

Personally, I would request to be moved away from a child on a flight as it
would be annoying.
Even if I did have to sit at the back of the bus, that would be better than
the alterative!

It's the practice, not the person that Kenneth was referencing, I'm sure.

I know. In Kenneth's hypothetical plane, Rosa Parks would sit in the front
because she is a woman.
Have I made that unclear enough? :-)
