My son has pale gums

His eyes are no paler than the next little boy, but it was under the eye lid on the bottom that the doctor checked and said they were fine. The Ped. did not do any blood work he did not seem too concerned. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but during my entire pregnancy with him I was very anemic and had to really watch my iron intake. Isn't anemia a really simple blood test; a fingertip prick as opposed to drawing a vial of blood? I think a single drop goes into a solution and how far it sinks indicates how much iron is in it -- something like that. Could be done right there in the doctor's office for instant (and cheap!) results. I'm remembering this from when I used to be allowed to give blood and they did an anemia test before approving a donor. (Now they won't take my blood because I spent too much time in Europe.....any more donor restrictions and they'll run out of donors.) - marty |

to drawing a vial of blood? Yes, thankyou for reminding me. DS has had blood tests done that have said that his blood iron level is fine. |
