Ho Ho Ho, do you really want to know?

From USA Today:

A 2002 study of applicants for jobs as mall Santas or Santa's
"helpers"
reveals that 7% had misdemeanor or felony convictions within the past
seven years.
Among offenses: indecent exposure, harassment, assault and soliciting
prostitution. The study, from a firm that provides background checks
on
employees, also showed that 46% of malls did not perform such checks
on their santas.

You cared enough to read it rather
than just skip it. You answered your
own question.

So anyone who reads it must agree that it's a concern? That's
ridiculous. There is a difference between "caring" and being "curious".
Actually, I clicked on it wondering why people were still complaining
about that "Bad Santa" movie.

So don't leave your child on Santa's lap and wander off.
Y'know, even people who've made mistakes don't deserve to be screwed over
for the rest of their lives. Though one might argue that only being able to
gain employment as a mall Santa might be tantamount to that.

Maybe you didn't see my question above: So anyone who
reads it must agree that it's a concern?

No one who responded to your OP thinks it's an issue at all.
Sorry to burst your bubble.
