Obviously, I've been telling my kids too many fairy stories
with trolls in them.

The other day Monika was crossing the San Mateo bridge with
the kids. Since there were three of them in the care, she
did not have to pay the toll. As soon as Niel saw they were
going around, and not through the toll booths he pops up"

"Hey, how come we don't have to stop and pay the bridge trolls?"

No kidding!

Heh heh - Joseph makes the same "mistake" on purpose - we must pay the troll
in order to get into the kitchen, up the stairs, etc. It involves putting a
pretend coin into the "troll's" ear. We do love stories with trolls in our
house...

If you're ever in Seattle, check out the troll under the
Aurora bridge (in Fremont). There's a huge statue there,
and it's about to eat a VW bug!

This sounds similar to misused words in my family (intential now, mistake
the first time). For example, the car has a de-frogger to unsteam the back
window. My brother and I are now grown up (as much as any of us are
grown-ups) but we still call it the de-frogger, which he named when he was
reasonably little.

A street 2 blocks from our house is "Trowbridge Street." My husband
simply refers to the invisible bridgekeeper there as a Trow.

He's older than Niel.
