Default heartbeat questions (kind long)

When I asked him about it he said as long
as the baby was waving at him he assumed they had one and that was good
enough for him. (on a side note: the baby did seem to wave right at the
screen so glad we got a tape of it!). Is this normal? Should I insist on a
heartrate count?

FWIW, with my ds I was never given a numerical heartrate with either of the
two u/s or dopplers. HTH

Neither do I - I only get the numerical heart rate now that I have 10
minutes of CTG (external foetal monitor) at each ob/gyn exam (this is
standard procedure over here once you hit 37 weeks).

I've read a few posts since I joined the group about heartbeat counts
at check ups. I'm 15 weeks along and I've had two appointments so far
and two ultrasounds (my doctor has one in his examining room) The
first visit he zoomed the ultrasound in on the baby's heart and we
could see it beating but he never counted. At my appointment a few
days ago we did an ultrasound but he didn't zoom in on a heartbeat.
When I asked him about it he said as long as the baby was waving at
him he assumed they had one and that was good enough for him. (on a
side note: the baby did seem to wave right at the screen so glad we

I'm 35 weeks and in all the scans and appointments I've had they've
never done a heartrate count. My midwives are happy if it's regular and
bouncing along
