7-month old sleepwear
We have been putting our 7 1/2 month old to sleep in infant
long-sleeved pajamas with feet. When my dad babysat for us the other night, he remarked that we did not have a blanket to put on him at night. I thought we were not supposed to put blankets in the crib for the first year, and he generally sleeps through the night so I am assuming that he is not cold. If he were cold, would he wake up? Should we be putting a blanket on him? When my dad DID put a blanket on him, he just kicked it off anyway. His room seems a little warmer than ours - maybe 69 or 70 degrees. |

I put a blanket on my DD (8 months) I figure she's old enough to hold her head up and move around quite well so a blanket shouldn't do any harm. She usually ends up with them off anyway. That said, if you're DS is sleeping well through the night without a blanket I say you don't need one for him. And yes he would most likely wake up if he were cold. Nadene |

If he is not cold (i.e. not waking up), don't bother. -- -- I mommy to DS (17m) mommy to a tiny angel (Oct 2003) guardian of DH (33) TTC #2.5 War doesn't decide who's right, only who's left |

SIDS Australia says that it is okay to use a blanket, but it has to be tucked in under the arms to prevent the child from getting trapped under it. To see what I mean, there is a picture at: http://www.sidsaustralia.org.au/rtr/cot.htm FWIW, my daughter slept with a blanket since the time she was born. However, I was careful to always tuck the blanket in when she was under 9 months or so. -- Daye Momma to Jayan "Boy" EDD 11 Jan 2004 See Jayan: http://jayan.topcities.com/ |
