Washing light-up shoes.
Are kids' shoes with blinking lights washable? My daughter had a pee
accident in them. Simple surface washing is not an option. Thanks, -- Jeannie E-mail: jeannie at talisweb dot see oh em |

I believe light up sneakers light up do to chemicals being placed under
pressure. Those chemichals are sealed tight. I think you can clean them like you would any other sneaker. |

I would sponge clean or just sit in the sun for a while to air and dry it out. Trinket |

Simple surface washing is not an option. sure it is. pee isn't a big deal unless she's ill. if you're worried about an odor, surface wash with an enzyme product like Nature's Miracle (available at pet stores), but usually toddler pee doesn't have any residual odor, IME. anyway, anything more than surface washing will likely damage the lights. stomping in big puddles will, so tossing in the washer certainly would. i'm looking for a new pair of light up shoes for a boy, preschool size 11, NOT sports related. he had dump truck ones, but all i can seem to find now have sports theme (yeah, i'm picky. i dislike sports everything on boy's clothes. not all boys care about sports) lee |

Thanks, -- Jeannie E-mail: jeannie at talisweb dot see oh em I washed my daughter's boots with blinking lights in the washing machine. One boot wasn't affected, but the other boot's light will blink randomly, even when she's not wearing them. ~Peggy |

However, if done on too rough a cycle or too often the light piece comes off. Although I am not sure if this is an effect of the wash on the glue (unlikely) or the drier. In any case a single wash should be fine and you can always glue the light piece back in. Best -- Patricia |

You could try putting them in a mesh bag meant for delicates and washing on the gentlest cycle, I suppose. -- Dorothy There is no sound, no cry in all the world that can be heard unless someone listens .. I've done it on used ones even so who knows if they had been washed before. One quite working, the other was fine. That wasn't very helpful was it :-) You could try turning them upside down and soaking them in just enough water to reach up to the inner sole but not up over the light part. If you use a strong vinegar water solution, soak then swish, that should get the odor. I can always smell pee, even toddler pee, so I can understand why you don't want to surface wash. I'd probably wash them in the machine and air dry outside. -- Nikki |

I've washed them in the washing machine and had no problems. I didn't put
them in the dryer though. -- Sue (mom to three girls) "Jeannie" wrote in message ... Are kids' shoes with blinking lights washable? My daughter had a pee accident in them. Simple surface washing is not an option. Thanks, -- Jeannie E-mail: jeannie at talisweb dot see oh em |

If she was standing up, and pee'd down her legs, filling the insides of the shoes with urine, they'd need more than surface washing. Those spongy innersoles can hold a lot of liquid! |
