Help. Infant does not stay in the crib, car seat, swing,
My 9 month old son still sleeps with us in the bed and wakes up to
nurse at least once during the night. He does not want to stay in the crib. He especially does not want to stay in the car seat, swing, or anything with belts. It is making us hard to travel. Please help! Neel |

Help. Infant does not stay in the crib, car seat, swing,
I think there comes a point when you have to let them cry it out. My
son was a little bit like yours in that he was very particular about things. We finally started letting him cry it out and it didn't take long for him to change his ways. He changed dramatically within a week as far as sleep habits, etc. Let me know if this helps. It hurts a lot to hear them but we tried everything books had said and to no avail. We finally resorted to the crying it out. Good luck |

Neel Well first of all, do you have a problem with cosleeping with your baby? There's nothing wrong with that, but if cosleeping is working for you and you don't think you should only because of the advice of others, ignore them. One good book for infant sleeping is _The No-Cry Sleep Solution_ by Elizabeth Pantley. I have heard this recommended by dozens of people and it has helped us out a lot. I believe she addresses how to cut out the middle-of-the-night feeding. I found my copy at Super Wal-Mart, or any major bookstore will have it. I don't know what to recommend about anything with seatbelts. Some babies don't like swings. Ian never cared for his. There were times when Ian didn't like his carseat either. We just made sure that the car was super comfy for him - shades on all the windows (to prevent glare) and a toy attached to his carseat with plastic links so it's easy to grab it if he drops it (when he used a pacifier we also had a Mam pacifier strap to make it easier to find if he lost it). If there were two of us on the car ride, one of us would ride in the back seat if he was having a grumpy day. I also love having a baby mirror (you attach to the back windshield or seat so you can see your son through your rearview mirror). Try seeing if your son likes listening to different things on the radio - classical, talk radio, etc. Also make sure you're scheduling your trips around his sleep schedule as much as possible - either leaving when it's naptime (if he'll fall asleep at all) or waiting until after his nap. Good luck! - Joanne DS Ian, 8 mos |
