that I need to actually say anything (it would be unsolicited advice)?
What would you all do? I did point out that they make flavored
Pedialyte. Just as additional information, he is formula-fed, so
breastmilk isn't an option.

I know I'm jumping in a little late but my pediatrician told me that
they find children like the Gerber version of pedialyte better than
the brand Pedialyte.
Of course, Kool Aid and Gatorade aren't appropriate fluid
replacements for a 10 month old.

(Don't tell me they flavored the non-flavored
version themselves??)

It sure sounds like that's what they were doing, from what my MIL said.
All I can do is speculate that the hospital gave them unflavored
Pedialyte and either they didn't know it was available flavored, or
wanted to just use what they were given.

If the official diagnosis is gastroenteritis, they should
switch to soy for a few days; milk-based formula
may/will exacerbate the problem. But the emergency
room almost certainly told them that.

It doesn't sound like this happened, but I don't know what the official
diagnosis was. Anyway, he is drinking his normal formula now and is
apparently fine, thank goodness.

Cleaning the house while your children are small is like
shoveling the sidewalk while it's still snowing.
