Can I reuse my old breast pump?
I'm expecting a baby in November, my second. I'd like to use the breast
pump I've held onto since my first child, but is there anything I need to worry about? I haven't used it in nearly five years. Can it be sufficiently cleaned? or might it have other problems I need to consider? |

Can I reuse my old breast pump?
"Morgante" wrote in message oups.com... Jess, It's an electric model, I believe it's called "In Style," but I don't have it with me right now and I don't remember the brand. I'll need to check. It allows me to double pump, and comes in a black case with an integrated storage compartment for the milk bottles. Read Donna's post-consider buying a spare set. It sounds like maybe it's a Pump In Style, so getting a spare set shouldn't be a big deal. Alternatively, check the motor, valves, tubing, suction, bottles and horns. And since it's been in storage for so long, I'd probably sanitize the hell out of it-bleach and the hottest wash known to God and mankind. Jess |

Can I reuse my old breast pump?
If it's one which has a separate pumping kit, I'd suggest replacing the kit.
I plan to buy a spare for my lactina once I stop pumping and store it with the kit so I know I have a new one when I need it. And, obviously, test it to make sure it still works before you need it. -- Donna DeVore Metler Orff Music Specialist/Kindermusik Mother to Angel Brian Anthony 1/1/2002, 22 weeks, severe PE/HELLP And Allison Joy, 11/25/04 (35 weeks, PIH, Pre-term labor) |

I used it with my now 7yo, 5yo, and again with the recent babies. I bought new tubing (it had mold inside) for less then $10 and boiled the horns. I just washed everything else down (didn't take it apart or anything like that). It works perfectly. That pump has been a work horse for me! -- Nikki, mama to Hunter 4/99 Luke 4/01 Brock 4/06 Ben 4/06 |
